Should the turbo be spinning enough to spool down if you are driving very slowly (coasting) for a short period before you shut down? should you have any psi boost at slow speeds, idle speeds, no throttle situations?

The turbo will continue to spin as long as the engine is running. If you pop the hood and stand next to it, you will be able to hear it spin down after the engine is shut off. (Your significant other will know you've been bitten by the Cummins bug when you ask her to shut off the engine) #ad

There won't be any boost built at low (engine) speed/load conditions.
Put in some gages and go play!
Enjoy.

Randy,
I know this is off topic, but where did you get your bypass filter, "by others". I think I remember hearing about a Wix model, but I haven't researched it yet.

That is why i was asking the question, i have a turboboost gage, and it always (almost always) has 3-5 Psi boost, even at an idle most of the time. Occasionally it will drop to zero, but most of the time 3-5 at idle, up to 30+ running, hard acceleration. ( my guage is only graduated to 30, it goes past 30 to what would be 35, needle runs out of room, i thought i might have screwed it up) but i hear the turbo still spoolong down after i have shut the truck off and am in front of the truck on the way in the house. Just trying to figure out if i have a problem with some control on the turbo.

Brian,
I made my own Bypass Filter system, i purchased a filter bracket and 3 micron filter for about $25 and purchased a high grade hose from my local parts house. made a flow contol orifice . 015 dia hole to control the flow away from the engine ( reduces it to about quart a minute, which takes about 10-12 minutes to flow all the oil in the system thru it) I have pics and will share the purchase info with you if you want? I have a total of about $40-45 bucks in the unit, and filter replacements are $10 Aprox.
I have two oil analysis back since i installed it, they recomended continued service of the oil, until the next interval. I do change the orig. filter every 5K and add makeup oil, and change the 3 micron filter every 10k. when i sample the oil.
