Unfortunately. Exhaust brake not working at times, and at the same time very little boost. Seems to come and go, but I know what it’s telling me. This doesn’t come at a good time. Short week this week (Thanksgiving) and in the middle of hunting season. I need the truck to tow stuff to the hunt camp, so whatever I do, I have to do by Wednesday end of day. Suggestions for a quality reman VGT for my 2014 would be welcomed.

just had 2015 2500 with 24k miles like new , throw a turbo code ,turbo actuator , right before a big 5th wheel move also, went back got my code reader

turbo overspeed error replaced turbo actuator was sooted and not working correctly all is well again. 3 hr job at dealership done , it causes exhaust brake to become non functional too. seems that there is a calibration procedure that involves software for the part and the truck also drain coolant also from turbo and or block

No codes on mine. Turbo is out waiting on the new one. Thought about removing the actuator to inspect it, but don't want to risk my $850.00 core charge. Just going to replace the whole thing and be done with it. It is a relative PITA to replace. Right motor mount has to be removed to clear. Too much work for an old man like me.

Make sure you know what you are buying, The Turbo should have been pre-calibrated..Know for sure this was done, next Step is final calibration.. Their are other tools to do this BUT I only use WITECH. Other tools cannot up-date The modules to current versions... I like to see all Modules to current versions (PCM,TCM,ECM,BCM)

IMO , I would invest in Virgin Turbo Only, ( Their are NEW aftermarket Turbo's Like the XR) The ONLY exception to this would be the Reman origin at Holset.. NOT a Holset Reman form Cummins or any Shop..

Watch out for the NEW Actuator but Turbo is Reman.....

Please report back what you decide...

Go ahead and remove the Actuator and check to see if the connecting arm moves freely , The core will still be good... Because if your sellers is NOT replacing the Actuator , Return the one you purchase and BUY complete NEW... You need to know if the vanes are the problem (Soot up) and if they are check intake for sooting, So you don't have another problem in the near future.

I paid all the money and went with a reman from the dealer. Got it at what I thought was a reasonable price, just a couple of hundred dollars over the aftermarket remans. The actuator alone for my VIN is $1780.00 dealer cost, I couldn't see doing just the actuator at 114k miles when I could get the turbo for about $1k more.

The Dealer Turbo is what origin ,Most likely aftermarket Build possibly from Cummins, Holset by contractual agreement with Cummins cannot Sell FCA the Turbo, FCA is NOT the maker of the 6.7. Cummins would not make agreements with Holset to Sell Turbo's to FCA on the 6.7. Who knows what the origin is with Mopar Parts, unless FCA is the maker of the power plant.

It has a fresh Holset label on it. Didn’t pay close attention to part number.

It may have been distributed By Cummins.......Re-Box and Label Mopar.

I like the Way Ram requires the wiring Harness to be different between the Cab-Chassis, and it different in the Navistar and Freightliner Trucks...Those makers don't want Nothing to be purchased from competitors. We Buy Bosch FCA and Modified it so it will work in all 2.8,5.0,5.9,6.7,8.3
