The familiar turbo whine now seems to have a howl to it after 20,000 miles. Is this a possible indication of an impending failure? Has anyone else detected this? Any imput or diagnostic suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Are you still seeing the same boost levels? If your boost has dropped, check the inside of the turbo intake and see if there are any signs of rubbing of the compressor blades on the housing or if the lateral play is greater. I had a turbo go out and howling was my first indicator of trouble.
