turning up the timming??

idle problems

91 pump leaks

Does anybody know where I can get instructions or will a dodge shop manual carry instructions for this procedure? Working on a 93' ve rotary pump motor.

Brian, loosen the 3 bolts that hold the pump to the timing case. You need to bend or buy a wrench to do the bottom one. A crows foot wrench can work too. Loosen the bolt on the rear, bottom of the pump. I like to loosen the lines so they don't get twisted and have tension on them.

Turn the top of the pump towards the head, about 1/8 of an inch. You may have to horse on it, or use a board to get it to turn. There are marks on the housing near the outside pump bolt for reference.

Tighten everything down, and go for a spin! :D

That's what i did... WORKED GREAT !!
 
Noticable increase in power, less smoke, lower EGT's.

Sorta kinda. It's not a bad job, if you have tools. The lower pump bolt and the lines can be a bear sometimes. I think most people don't bother with the lines, but if they have a preload on them they are more likely to crack.
 
would it be easier to do this at the same time as the 366? cause if it is, i will probly do so. will it make a big difference if i havent cranked up the fuel yet?
 
Jimmy, I don't think it matters one way or the other. If the fuel is stock, it won't make that big of a difference. If you are dumping more fuel, then it has more time to burn. ;)
 
ok, so its just as easy to do the timing advancment when ever, as opossed to doing it with the 366? thanks for the help pete. much apreciated as always
 
I'd do one, then the other after a few hundred miles. That way, if somethign goea awry, you have an idea where to begin. If you do many things at once, and have an issue, you dont really know where to start.

good advice daniel. thats the exact reason im doing the 366 and leaving my pump stock for a short time. then ill turn that up. . then i guess ill do the timing advance.
