Fass system questions

Water/Meth Injection

I am looking to go with twins. The thing that caused this is My PDR HX-40 bearings wore out, and blew the seals on it.

I am leaning towards Piers fixing it, as well as modifying it for twins, and getting a PDR HT3B/26 to go with it, and the rest of the stuff for PDR twins, but I have also been throwing around the idea of a B1 series twin setup.

Does the PDR HT3B spool/flow faster than a normal HT3B?

One thing I've always wondered, is, why can't you just mate up a KSB-1-2 to a Big Brother turbo (or any small, fast spooling turbo, to a extremely large big turbo)? It seems like no one does this, as maybe the two are too far apart in size? Is it that the BB doesn't start spooling fast enough by the time the KSB-1-2 or something like it has reached it's top end?

Also, is the BB turbo too large to run on the 24v's and still have it be streetable (spoolup is important to me, and by streetable, I mean a relatively normal spoolup time).

Also, I have noticed that the build quality of the PDR kits seems to be a little higher than some of the B-series twins out there that I've seen... any input?

Now I know this is a heated subject, comparing different twins, but I am trying to get an unbiased opinion, so that I make the best choice, taking everything into consideration.

Right now, I have a stock head gasket too - so, it will need to be wastegated to less than 50psi until I can work the head.

Also, I have an edge drag comp, dd3's (which I'd like to switch to edm's soon - especially with twins), water/meth, fass, pdr hot rod vp44, catcher ecm.

Again, should I just repair the HX40, and set it up for pdr twins, or is it really worth changing everything over to a B-series twin setup? Like I said, spoolup is important, but I would like to be able to run something like mach 4,5, or 6 injectors without egt worries too down the line. I will probably fire ring the head, and throw in some Haisley 12mm studs sometime in the next 6 months or so too. I don't really tow anything either, and I have an '02 ETH 6-spd.

I'd like the twin setup I get to be streetable, versatile, reliable, yet still haul ***, and have it be the best possible combo and solution for my current situation.

Thanks,

Skyler

There are several sets of Big Brother twins out there. Jim Fulmer, Richard Maddsen are two that have or had BB twins. The reason for the BB twin set-ups is that you want 700HP or more and or over 100# of boost. In the 500-600+ HP range the HT3B is a good turbo and very inxpensive verses big bucks for a BB. Also if you tow at all forget it with the BB the guys with the BB bottom turbo are barely streetable, lots of smoke.

If it was me I would get the 40 to Piers and have him supply the rest. It is a very easy set-up to install and the customer service is top shelf.

Skyler, I'll try to answer a few of your questions.

1. Yes the PDR 3B will spool better, I used one on my first setup

2. You don't have enough fuel for a B/B unless you go to some EDM's and it works very well with a PDR 40 and yes those are avalible... ..... remember I'm at 750 on #2.

3. The B Series Twins seem to be fine but they are allot more money and you already have the 40, no the 40 is not as tough as a single but it doing real good with Twins and yes it will spool better.

4. The only person that I know of that builds B series Twins is clueless as to how to make them work, anyone in the performance industry almost has to have someone with big power to show the potential of the product, he then can sell it to a lower powered guy with more of a buffer..... make sence.

5. I'd stay away from Fire Rings on a day to day truck, Use a single O-ring in the head and studs and a stock gasket... ... ... . that's what I'm still using and going to use on my new motor.

6. Talk to Piers about EDM's

7. Ask Piers how many kits he has out on the street, I was amazed that there was that many.

Who would that be? I know Olee is selling B series twins...

I'm planning on a B1/B2 combo next spring so I'm hoping someone can help. Otherwise I will just figure it out on my own I guess. I'm pretty sure that most of the setups out there that actually work are found on a trial & error basis. If you pay someone for their setup hopefully the error part has already been worked out lol. Jim, who would you recommend for piping on B series twins? Thx

I would use your HX-40 add a B2 for your twins. But there again, I am the Clueless guy here (Olee Poole). THANKS JIM for all your help? For injectors, there is only 1 Formula 1, Don M's injectors are the only way to go just look around. I made 522hp with mach 4s this week and a B1 turbo. I would look into ARP head studs and O-rings. .
