PICTURES!!!!! Keep in mind, this is all preliminary. I still need to remake the crosstube on the intake side, and filter tube. But it's enough to go on.

Finally got time to rebuild / rework a few problems I'v been having. I replace all the boots with nylon reinforced rubber hose. No way I'll blow one!

I also put on a smaller intake impeller on the garrett turbo. Still waiting on a smaller exhaust housing for the hx35.

To say the least I've solved my spooling problem! This truck takes off like a bat out of hell! Now I need to find some bigger injectors to cope with the amount of air that I'm pushing... Yeah Baby, Yeah :D :D.

Jim / Mark... You're absolutely right about the air filters. I figured that out today. I collapsed the diaphragm of the filterminder today... oops.

TDK, I now have a JD GREEN turbo housing on the truck. Figured you'd like to know that :p:D.

turbos are coming along quite nicely. I'm really just now starting to get used to how it drives with them (like a scalded cat!) Still gotta rebuild the crosstube between the intake sides of the turbos. The one I have wont flow enough. Other than that, things are great! A little exhaust housing work on both turbos brought max boost to 80psi . Got it semi-wastegated now to around 50 psi. Got all new reinforced boots all around, now I'm ready to roll.

I also managed to work the pass. side battery back in, along with a modded intake. Now where's that aFe? :D

edit: almost forgot... Always double check the welds on the intake tube. I sucked a piece of slag through the primary turbo. DOH!! An hour's worth of work and a new impeller later, I was back on the road. That sucked.

I know you had to different exhaust housing on that big turbo, on from a 10L engine, adn one form a 12L right? Have you tried it with a smaller 16cm on the primary, and the 12L exhaust housing on the big one?

Andrew

As far as exhaust housings, the 12 Litre has a much larger housing, thus less spoolup. After a little machine work on the 10 litre housing, spool up is decent with only modified BD2's and a comp. With a smaller exhaust housing on the hx35, the initial spoolup is quick, but like with Mark Kendrick's, it's pulling oil through the front seal of the big turbo! Maybe later (when i get a little money saved up*) I can afford some Super Mentals. Those ought to push the twins really well!

I'm anxious to see how they perform with an upgraded auto transmission Oo. . I can't wait till I get them swapped out. They should perform well with the auto.

* Money currently tied up in new stereo system and upgrade parts for auto transmission. I should be broke even by January .

The problem with hte seals is probably the air cleaner and the difference in the housings.

The amount of oil that you see there is probably neglegable. As the turbo breaks in it seems to go away. the only way to tell for sure is a regular disassembly and I've managed that lately:(

You seem to be on the right track though. . let's see some pics!!!
