With as much boost as you are seeing... whar changed the map of the 35??? I thought that 34-36lbs of boost was tops for the 35. .

Rick

Turbos are kinda nice in that they boost their input pressure based on what they are seeing. So if they only see 1BAR... then 35psi is the limit of the compressor map... . but since they see 2BAR due to the secondary they just keep on compressing as if it was 1BAR at the inlet... .

Make sense?

Matt

Got most of the exhaust on tonight, I ordered a Donaldson stick of 5" and a truck resonator that is 10x16. It sounds much better now, I have to fab a tail pipe but for now it goes over the axle then dumps onto the ground. The Donaldson stuff is thick and heavy and for once I have no drone at any speed, at low RPM 1500 or so it rumbles a little but the tailpipe will cure that by putting it out away from the truck. I got it finished then went to the store for some fittings to change the wastegate up and on the way home I went around a pickup on the road from 75 MPH, as I went around him I was thinking dang what happen to him then I realized I was going 100. It just doesn't seem like these trucks move out like they do, Mergining in traffic is fun! Driveability is better now but you have to watch the Speed O and not listen to the truck. I really like the 45 PSI area cause it hauls at short throttle. Matt I was thinking the same way about the turbo's, there stupid and don't know what is being fed to them. JR Atkins said it best (these are street/towing twins) yep that is true.

Hey Jim

That is an awsome looking setup. From being almost stock when you helped on my pump to now you seem to have improved your ride just a wee bit. Now I for sure want to get that ride. Can I park next to you at the next Dyno Days?

Nice job.

John

John, When I look back on it I guess it's either cool or stupid that only a year ago I had the truck for 2 Months(Aug 2001) and ran with a stock transmission and a #8 plate and though that was cool. To date the only thing I have redundantly bought was 1 plate (that cost $50. 00 to swap) and now a 4" exhaust, probably should change a few things up then just leave it alone as it doen't make enough power to tearup stuff but is high on the fun factorOo. Huge AFE air filter is on order now, and a Larry B cover is on the 35, looks much better.

Jim

If you guys want to see some different shots that I don't have in the album I'll try to accomidate you.

Andy, the 8" BHAF that I have flows 700 ish and the 10" flows 900 ish, the K&N RE-0880 flows 1350 and the AFE I ordered flows 1700+ through a 5" not 4" like the others.

Jim

The BHAF dropped my EGT 50 degrees over the K&N & stock box. Adding the heat shield helped more.

The big difference was on spool up. I actually put the stock box with K&N back on just to see if it was true. It was. :D

Yep the 5" is short but it looks stock:p till you cram it. Seriously I got the exhaust finished tonight with the exception of one hanger(support) of course I had to modify the 70 degree elbow it to get it here but decided to run it short vise longer outside of the quarter(didn't want the sewer pipe hanging out), I like it short to hide it but it rolls smoke at low boost  the 1500 RPM rumble is gone now that the tail pipe is installed and it is smooth throughout the RPM band. Exhaust is throaty, but cool on cruising.

Many have asked about the oiling for the two turbos' so here it is. I used a 5/8ths thread(steel) to a #6 in the stock location oiling and a 1/8th's thread to a #6 were the plug is, so you ask is that enough oiling, the stock oiling(with the fitting in place) is the same hole size as the 1/8th and if you look at the lines fabbed together at a few points it is the same size as the 1/8 or the stock plug, also these points have full system pressure.

Go the AFE in today and fabbed it to the intake pipe this afternoon, after I slid the plate forward last week I could peg the EGT guage in a High MPH/RPM run so going to town I did a 110 MPH run and I couldn't get it over 1425. I'm very pleased with the filter and just to think it was $10. 00 more than the AH19002 and flow 2. 5 times the air, They had to build it and I still got it in a week.

Jim

Dimentions are 6. 5 x 4. 75 x 18" with a 5" inlet

Jim,

Those pipes look nice now, did you paint them? Also looks like you put a SS shield around the small one?

Just got home from the track. Got your message this morning, i was in the shower, and didn't notice it till I was at work. I will try to find some time to check my e-mail tonight and get back to you with what ever you wrote.

I'm beat,

Andrew

I painted the cold pipes the other day with just some high heat paint(kinda sucks) but it looks better than nothing on them, and I had to put a shield on the little one just cause it looks so bad(needs to be coated$$$) FYI for everyone, I could have built this and put the battery back in the pass side but it would mean fabricating the cold pipe again and raising it so it comes out of the little turbo then stays high and goes further back before making the turn down to the big one and fabricating the filter piping for clearence and filter postion, with this filter it would have been 5" stuff, as I have it right now it comes out of the turbo to a 4-5" then to the filter and the 4" part of it's only 5-6" long. It would still be best to run 5" stuff but with the 4" it clears the filter by 3/4" the only disadvantage is you have to pull the air filter to change the oil filter and that takes 1-2 Min's. As I make small changes I'll put them on this thread to you'll.
