First: For the last year, I have been having troubles with my U-Connect system and making out-going calls using my Samsung Galaxy 5 phone. All incoming calls are received just fine. The first call during a trip seems to go through just fine but each succeeding calls is dropped at my end. I went to the Verizon Dealer who did a complete reset on everything in the phone and also indicated that my problem was the he had heard about this. Just today, I made an appointment for a recall service with my dealer, Rainier Dodge in Olympia, WA, and when I inquired about the cell/u-connect issue, the dealer stated there was a technical bulletin indicating a non-compatibility issue with this particular phone. What have you heard about this and what are my options other than changing phones?
Second item: In a TDR issue a couple of years back there was mention of a way for the dealer to reprogram the computer so that the head lights would be on in a "European mode" when ever the ignition is turned on. A few months back, I stopped by the dealer and inquired and the only procedure they could find was a "Canadian" mode but after a couple of hours work they could not get it to work that way. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Go to Driveuconnect.com and put in all your information. It will tell you if the features will work with your truck. Pay attention to the phone software level as it can make a big difference. If the phone is compatible check with your dealer for a hands free module update.

This is an ongoing problem with android devices including RAZR, Samsung, etc. One thing you should try, if you haven't already, is to re-pair the phone to the Uconnect. Change the name of the phone if you are able. Delete the pairing on the phone and on Uconnect and then re-pair. I had your problem with a Bluetooth headset paired to a Garmin GPS with Sirius XM. The music came over just fine, but when I received a call, the Garmin (which handled my phone calls and music) would drop the Bluetooth connection when I answered. I re-paired and the problem went away.

Also, in the latest software update to several android phones, there is a problem with Chrome causing interference with the BT due to timing constraints. I personally don't like Chrome so I deleted it from my phone. Some users have found that reverting to an earlier version of Chrome solves the problem. Apparently, the Chrome is a CPU hog and the BT isn't getting enough attention to stay connected. While you are at it, make sure you have the latest firmware/software version on your phone.

Finally, if you have a lot of apps running in the background, try shutting them down. Again, too many apps cause problems causing the BT to drop out. Also, I know a year is a long time, but if you can think back to when the problem started.....did you download any new apps make any other changes to the phone?

If you contact your cell provider, they may be able to help with some troubleshooting tips. More than likely, they will tell you to do a full restore on the phone. If you do, make sure you have a good backup available to restore everything. To me that is a last resort but in some cases, it does fix problems like you are having. Last year, my phone would give me a notification two times a day that it needed to be synced to my computer. Finally I did a hard reset, then restored from a backup and the problem went away.

Update on my cell problem. I have contacted "Uconnect" and with their guidance did a "soft" reset or update. Did it twice with no change in my situation. They told me that a "hard" reset will have to be performed by the dealer. They did say that my phone is on their list of compatible phones so that should not be an issue. My appointment with the dealer is scheduled for Monday. As to "apps", I'm 69 and this is my first smart phone and I can count on one hand the number of apps I have on my phone with the only ones I use being gas buddy, weather bug and a traffic map. My grandson just taught me how to send a text message so I'll admit, my age may be contributing to my being technologically challenged!
Any thoughts to the headlight issue? MY insurance offers a discount for vehicles with daylight running lights for which I would like to receive. Just need to get the lights to work.
Thanks

I had the same no sync up issue with my 2013 and my old school "G"zone NON SMART flip phone after a dealer visit to get the Sat antenna replaced. The dealer did a re-flash on the radio system and when I picked up the truck it wouldn't sync with my phone. I tried to remove the phone from the truck then remove the truck from the phone then allow them to reinstall... they wouldn't. So back to the dealer only to learn that the phone that I had been using for and synicing for over a year wasn't on the list. Annoyed I gave everything one last removal from both the truck and phone. only this time I let the truck set and fully power down over night. Next morning I set up the sync and both the truck and phone find each other. Most times it takes a few min re connect when you first get into the truck but they will re connect. But every once in a while they will not but I have learned that if I turn off the phone and re boot it it'll connect right away. Remember way back when the phone was in the house and your truck was used for driving and your Nav system was a well folded page of paper that you got from AAA or your local gas station? Life was simple and much more fun back then.....

I'm sorry to report that my dealer provided fix or software upgrade failed to solve the problem. I tried the phone of multiple occasions today with the same results. I guess I'll try and get Samsung/ Verizon to swap phone with me at no charge. Anyway, thanks for the information. Sorry it didn't work.

Sorry to hear the problems with that phone truck combination...I have a Samsung S5 (verizon) as well, and have had zero problems with it in my truck with the Uconnect. Been using this combination for about 10 months.

OK, now I'm getting ******! Went to the Verizon store the other day and bought a new phone. The dealer said it's the latest and greatest; Samsung Galaxy S-5 (discovered my old phone was an S-4, my error). While there, I called UConnect and had the dealer talk with them about the problem I have been having. After much discussion, I was informed that I needed a certain software which was exactly what my phone came with. All was good, several calls were made immediately upon departing the Verizon store. I was a happy camper again, that was until today. While running an errand I called home and once again, the call was dropped immediately after one ring. Attempted twice more with the same results. Called from the parking lot and no problems at all. On my way home, attempted a call with the same dropped call results. I guess it's back to the dealer but I'm not happy at this point.

When first pairing, the phone asks if you want to transfer the call history and phone book. Do that so that you have caller ID on the truck.

It will also ask if you want to transfer messages. This is where the problem seems to be. Answer no to this and answer not to ask you again. There seems to be a problem with the phone and transferring messages to the Uconnect.

You will probably have to have the truck forget the phone and then pair it again to get to these messages.

I don't believe Uconnect is your problem. Do a search on the Internet and you will see that a lot of people are having this problem with the Galaxy S5. The S3 and S4 work fine but the S5 has this problem with Lexus, Toyota, Chevy and others.

The dealer can add drl to your truck but it will be on your dime. The option code for the type lights you have will need to be added and then the truck will need to be reconfigured

Regarding my phone issue, I have read and made notes of all the comments and suggestions and appreciate them very much. Yesterday and today were spent on the phone for much of the time divided between U Connect, Verizon and Samsung but with no resolution. When I bought my new phone, I confirmed that the software, 4.3.0 was compatible and it was, for a week or so. I was also advised not to upgrade to a newer software because I may experience the same problems. I did not upgrade but upon checking, I discovered the phone upgraded itself to the new 4.4.4 software which will soon be replaced by 5.0, thus, my problem. Phones can not be downgraded to older software but they can be prevented from updating but only when new but no one seems to know how to do it? I also learned from U Connect that the newer Dodge and U Connect vehicles have new software compatible with the new phones but at this time they have no plans to upgrade the older software leaving us out in the cold so to speak. Additionally, this issue is not unique to Verizon; Sprint carriers and other new phones as well as other vehicle systems are experiencing this too. It's a case of technology leap frogging ahead of applications. At this point I'm not sure what my best course of action is but I'm not pleased.

My HTC One worked great until recently, took it to the dealer for servicing & the tech found an update for the radio bluetooth, took a very long time to download it
& now it doesn't work at all, won't even download when you touch the phone on the screen. I discovered this as I was leaving & went back, got the might need to
reset after sitting for a while. I didn't put much hope in that, but didn't have time to fool with it & they are over an hour away from where I live. I guess when I have
time I'll get the dealer up the street to look at it.

Sorry for taking so long to get back with you. After all the above with my Samsung S-5, Verizon did a software update to the 5.0 version and everything worked just fine. Absolutely no issues. On June 14th, another software upgrade and once again the phone quit working with U-connect. Fortunately, all I had to do was re-program or re-pair the phone and it's working again. The new software is, "G900VVRU2BOE1". Hope that helps.

Is this an 8.4 AN? if so, good friggin luck. Ive tried several versions of Android phones, three different I phones....They have changed everything in my truck except for the VIN # and the 8.4AN is still the most unreliabable POS ive ever experienced. I keep hoping the "buyback" would include my truck!
On a side note, there is a way to make it work temporarily, go into the engineering menu and do a full reboot of system.... It will get it back working until it decides to act up again

There must just be good radios and bad radios....... I have had an old klunker of an HTC android phone and now a samsung S4, both have worked just fine.........

I have had a Galaxy S5 for almost a year now and haven't had any problems with my 2010 3500 Laramie's UConnect. I always keep my phone updated to the latest software, never even thought of having problems with UConnnect.

No problem with my Galaxy 5 either incoming or outgoing with our 2015 Ram dually 3500. Sure hope it lasts as we love using the phone via the truck when tooling down the road so we can both hear and talk. Hugs, Di

I have had problems with my phone from the beginning. It's an LG with Verizon service. I asked my daughter to program it for me. It will work for maybe three or four calls and then drops the pairing. The screen then reads no device connected. Happened the other day about a block from Bob 4x4's house. Since this has been ongoing, my daughter set it up for me again a couple months ago and said to try turning the phone off when it happens and then turn it back on. That has worked a few times now. She thinks it's a problem with the phone and she might be correct. But I suspect with all the electronics problems on these new trucks it's related to the truck. The phone never drops my calls any other time.
