Found this on this site http://www.ramforum.com/f51/uconnect_8_4_8_4an_update_-_17_11_07_a-100887/ . Looks like it is also supposed to be for our trucks. Anyone here get an OTA update message yet? I checked the UConnect firmware site and it still show me at the last 16.13.?? as the latest. Wondering if an active UConnect script is necessary? NUMBER: 08-028-17

DISCUSSION:

All MY13-16 vehicles sold in the U.S. with the RA3 or RA4 radio can now receive software
updates “over-the-air”. Updates to software level 17.11.07 will occur in a phased roll-out.
The software is updated through the built-in cellular modem in the radio which is
connected to the Sprint® 3G network. Customers will see a notification on their radio
screen when new software is available for their radio (Fig. 1). The owner will have the
option to update the radio or schedule the update for later. There is not an option to
decline the update indefinitely. The update must be performed.
NOTE: This is an information only TSB to help the customers understand how they
can perform their FOTA update. This document does not contain a LOP for
reimbursement.

If this is true, it's awesome that they decided to make apple car play available all the way back to MY 13 now. Previously that was MY 15 or 16 forward only. Too bad I got rid of my iPhone. It say's it's a phased roll out, so I bet it takes a while to get this done. I would also expect bugs in the system too, so it could get bogged down.

Built in cellular radio? Big brother?

How do you make sure it isn't talking to anyone?

Last years update added that Siri Hands free thing. It's not Car Play. It just allows you to talk to Siri over Uconnect/Bluetooth. Press the voice assist button quick once you get the normal Uconnect system. Press and hold for a second it bypasses Uconnect and wakes Siri on your phone so you can talk to her.

Yes I know, I've done that update.

I wonder if this works for everyone, or only for those who subscribe to the Uconnect service.

Al

From what I'm reading, it is all inclusive regardless of if you have an active UConnect subscription. I also found a tread where someome posted their downloaded copy of 17.11.07, I believe they got it from UConnect Canada as they don't have Sprint cell service BUT I don't think I'm going to try it. Some are saying that possibly by the end of the year UConnect will post this on the US site too for people who don't want to mess with OTA. Ya never know.

I received the e-mail that it was coming but my radio has not yet said it was ready to download. I think its great that they are letting us upgrade without a fee. Then again with what I paid for the truck, ahhh, I retract the previous comment.

Ok I did the upgrade. So far the only difference I see is the ladies voice has changed.

Well, being that you have 16 model year, you already had apple car play and android auto, so us folks with 13 and 14 model year trucks may see more differences, if they really are giving the older vehicles that functionality now.

I asked about this OTA update when I had the T25 recall done, because I'm not a UConenct subscriber and don't pay for the mobile hotspot crap, and was told it didn't matter. BEST they could tell me is it will still get to me but no idea as to when and not a clue as to the changes to be expected. Got to love a well informed shop. <LOL> From what I'm reading is sometime by the end of the year, this update will either become available for download and thumb drive install OR we're possibly supposed to be able to take a drive to the dealer and get it downloaded. Again, no real answer as to when. I am reading that some in Canada already can download it as they don't have Sprint to get it OTA. Several have tried entering Canadian VIN's into the update site to get it downloaded but the site seems to know if you are in Canada or not. Guess it's just a waiting game.

My '14 Durango accepted it. I am not subscribed at all. Brings it up to '16 graphics and capabilities. In my case, it didn't fix my quirky amp, which were getting used to.

I got the notice while I was driving yesterday, and did the update OTA. Took about 15 minutes. Nav is a little easier to interface with, and more accurate.

This happened to me when we were out west a few weeks ago. I kept getting these notices on the radio and I said no. After a couple of weeks I didn't have a choice and it updated while I was driving thru WY. Took about 45 minutes. I don't notice anything different.

Mine updated last Thursday. Followed the prompts, took 15 min to download (had to have truck running during download), then about 45 min to update (could turn off truck during update and it would finish). It was seemless. Radio did not work during update but was not a big deal, it told you what was doing and tracked progress on the screen.

...and I dont pay for uConnect service. Wish they would push free Nav updates this way....

Did you get Apple Car Play or Android Auto with the update? I'm wondering if those of us with the resistive screens will have that capability.

I'm not sure. I don't use either, but we're a Apple family. Would it be a App Store app for uconnect, or does it handshake with the phone?
