Uconnect Map Update

I have never updated my maps (Uconnect) on my 2014 RAM and yesterdaty the nav was out of date for the trip I took, no big deal, I figured it out, but I got to thinking maybe it's time for an update. Couple or 3 years away from replacing the truck with a new one. Is it worth the upgrade at this point and is it easy to do? Looking back at Sno-Kings post I think from 2017 it looked like a nightmare for a non techie old guy like me.

You'd don't need to be an IT tech, just follow the step by step instructions and be patient. They have tech support that is good attacking folks through it.

It's really up to you if it's worth it. I can't stand the OEM NAV, but you also don't have CarPlay/Android Auto so maybe I would use it regardless and want to update it.

I'm with John, no longer updating mine or my wife's. But it's not bad to update if you want it.

Well now that I looked into it a Uconnect update is required first. And that absolutely terrifies me after reading about the huge volume of problems with Uconnect even on the 2022 trucks. Another reason to wait on buying a new truck, already had enough problems with the 2014. I was comparing my records on the RAM vs my Honda S2000. Huh, not a single repair on the Honda, receipt for the factory hardtop, brake job, and done oil and tires. Thats it. Not a single mechanical repair and I don't baby it. Kind of like kids, I do love the truck anyway, but in a different way, LOL.

The update is easy too. And tech support is there if you need them. Not trying to talk you into or out of it, but if you can follow step by step instructions it's doable. Even a Garmin requires operating system and map updates. Maybe you would like a Tradesman better on next truck?

Do it, it's also a selling point in three years.

And there is no such thing as an "U-connect" - it is several head units with a bazillion of different softwares and corresponding updates.
All of it run under the title "U-connect", so if you read about problems, it needs to apply to your head unit in your model and year of the vehicle, same trim level. Otherwise it simply doesn't apply.

If you are unsure, let a dealer perform it. Sure it costs something to have it done but then they warranty it if something goes wrong along the way.
