SO at 236,***km my head gasket decided it was bad... sounds fair... took the truck in, they pulled the head, and the gasket was missing in three places! The head gasket was replaced and a stud kit installed as well. I had the truck for a day and a half, when I noticed my voltage meter was reading really low, so I pulled her over and looked under the hood... . OIL pouring out where the head mates with the block... in the front! So I took the truck back in, they pulled the head again, gasket was shot in the same place as before, though before no oil leaked... the block and head were both perfectly straight, but they sent the head in to be ground so it was perfect... . while the head was in the machine shop, they found that the exhaust valves were burned... the guides were shot, and the seals were no good either, so they replaced ALL of the valves, intake included, not sure if that was neccesary? along with the valve guides, seals, and seats. So I guess what I am getting at is, what would make the valves and other associated parts be so worn? also is it neccesary to do all of the valves if only the exhaust valves were bad? I just want to know what to do in the future to reduce the risk of wrecking them again? I run full synthetic all the time and change it religiously, I also am very cautious as not to let my EGT's get out of hand either... just confused and unhappy with the cost of this adventure, and would like to prevent it if possible, I thought these engines lasted for a long time... thanks for any information!!
