Exhaust brake

Air Dog pricing???

sorry it took so long i have been away from my computer. im not sure how much hp but i have been told by piers and dtt i was around 400 hp. i had a problem with the old style trans lines. i was told that i should change them and didnt. then on my way down to schieds the trans line started leaking. see what happens when i dont listen. now i have the new style and there working great. this combo is great my truck runs awsome. right now i have a #0 plate in and wow what a difference. i had low fuel pressue and changed the overflow valve out and now the truck runs much better. you have a 97 so you will have more hp then me. im going to go have my truck dynoed soon though so i get back to you and let you know what im at. if you dyno before me let me know what your at. if this is 400 hp at work i cant even begin to think what it is like to be 600+. this trans in my truck with a few mods= :D :D :D .

Richard I would really like to hear what your truck dyno's. I have a hard time thinking your truck is 400HP with a stock turbo and a 160 pump (unless you have some secret pump mods). JMHO. Please keep us posted because maybe I have underestimated the little 160's?

edit: I guess it is realistic to think it might be 400 flywheel HP but maybe not RWHP IMHO.

Yep, didn't know when you were going to dyno or if you had already, just thought that you were going to but didn't know when. ;) I was thinking I heard that you had problems with something on/in your trans... ... and they recommended some adjustment..... Accumulator or servo? Just trying to think out loud what they said.....

It would be nice to have another MNTDR fall dyno event again like last year. If such a thing happens before it snows and after I get my trans done, i'd be game for a dyno run or two. I've also been told my estimated HP is around 400 FWIW.

TMass,

You have a 180 pump, a little different than Richards. Your HP will be a little easier to come by.

FWIW - I have seen a 180 pump truck, 16 degrees of timing, 370's, #4 plate, 191 delivery valves, with a PDR HX40/16 dyno at 410 RWHP. With some more tuning of the pump I think a few more HP was certainly achievable. On the same note I have seen a 180 pump dyno 290 RWHP with just a #4 fuel plate and boost elbow.

There are certainly a few secrets to these P-Pumps that not everyone wants to share ;)

I can vouch for that. I was assisted with the pump when I calibrated it. A buddy wanted to do some experimenting and try some things on it. He does fuel work for pulling tractors and loves tuning on the P7100 pumps. I went out to take out the 180 injectors and install the 370 injectors since I had to rush, and by the time I got back, my buddy was done was done calibrating the pump. Boy I wish I had a sound recorder when we brought the rpm up, that thing pumps some fuel! :D Don't know what to compare it too! We had a grin on our face for awhile! I'm sure it isn't as crazy as a lot of the big-time pullers, but it is calibrated for pulling and there's no warranty issued. :-laf Basically, I couldn't have asked for a better calibrated pump. Great bottom end, aneroid kicks out in a blink of an eye and the smoke clears up just like that, great response all around, plenty fuel up top to blow a black haze and easily peg my 1500° gauge, and she's got some R's too for running in gears besides OD. For some reason i've never been able to top out the RPMs in OD. I know a few things that he did, but not the specifics. I also have a printout of the checkpoints for the calibration along with some numbers jotted down of the rack travel, cc's of fuel, governed rpm, and high idle rpm. I wish I could have been in there to write more numbers down but I had to get those injectors in. Someday I wouldn't mind taking it off and running it through the checkpoints again to see where everything is set at. Very curious!

BTW,

18* timing, 370's, #6 plate, GSK, 181 DV's, High Rack Travel, Increased Fuel Delivery, HX-35, BHAF, and enough boost to grenade and easily put the HX-35 out of it's map. Any guess on HP? :D

Don't have as much smoke on the top end as I thought I would. Curious if that would change with the transmission upgrade? Or is it just because of the small turbo exhaust housing?

The small exhaust housing will actually choke the top end and make it smoke more than a larger housing. If you are still running the stock transmission I would imagine it will smoke a bit more with a performance transmission but I do not think I would expect a ton more smoke.

Ok, basically the pyro goes up, the speedo goes up, but the smoke level doesn't go up other than a black haze, comparable to a non-intercooled PSD with a Edge Evolution on the Tow setting and the pedal down, FWIW. You wouldn't believe how quick the smoke clears up when the aneroid kicks out, just in a snap. It's like it goes from LC DV's to 181 DV's, just in comparison.
