just posted it for infomation purposes, I'm not trying to start anything. I just think it's awsome if the truck can stay together at that HP, time will tell... ... . Remember boys competition is a GOOD thing. Still won't make me buy a Dmax but maybe I can bomb my buddy's... spend somebody elses money for a change:D :D

Time will tell

What are these guys going to do when they have to start replacing these $10,000 D-maxes and $6000 Allisons. Power is good but are the bottom ends of these V-8's gonna take it. How about head gaskets at increased cyl. pressures. What kind of boost #'s are we talking? These are all things that need to be looked at before a guy rushes in and starts straining these expensive technilogical wonders. HOW LONG WILL IT LAST. I guess we'll see... Doug

Warranty...

... what about when there's a rod hanging through the side of the block,or it's over 100k :{ . Can you say"I am my own warranty station" ;) ... Doug

Some of you guys must be insecure about the Cummins. I see no reason to doubt the numbers or the aluminum heads. For someone to think aluminum head wont take that kind of power must have iron between their ears. One thing the guys talks about is the cabability of the common rail system, he says it's key in the numbers they get so that may mean more power for the new Cummins.

I believe the matter stems from aluminum heads on a cast iron block and the expansion and contraction of dissimilar materials for longevity (Did I say all that without misspelling anything). That DMAX will not be very fast if he pulls over every 1/4 mile to tear it down and rebuild for the next 1/4. I think he has 75 minutes to do it though.

I wonder what the EGT's are on a T/F rail? I believe they run cool (as opposed to a strong Cummins) but I see WHITE HOT exhaust at night.

Funny you say that

When we were at Atlanta speed way I was counting time sheets in the console of the little Duramax, I was surprised to count 47 runs! We are all surprised to see it. My job is to break this thing. The guys in the back want take this engine apart.

You have a open invitation to come school me. I always have something to learn from someone. I am guessing that B. S. means (Built Strong). I will be happy to accompany you to your favorite dyno or drag strip and give you the B. S. proof you need. My only request is the looser pays for the runs.

The engine appears to be ok. We went through 4 transmissions before we came up with out Level I trans fix. After that all was good. I will say the Allison is nice because of its extra low first and 5 gears. Boost is 32psi on the dyno and 39psi at the track.

Why Dogde guys are worried about Dmax #'s is beyond me. Do YOU have anything to fear?

Let me guarantee ONE thing, HE WHO HAS THE THICKEST WALLET WILL WIN THIS WAR!!!!!

Some tips would be:

Keep your head out of your keister, don't race unless prepared to lose, and be DARN HAPPY that competetion is there or you would still have a 160 HP VE PUMPED 12V!!!!! No offence to our first gen brothers, that is still one heck of a truck.

I agree with LSMITH, who cares!! I personally think most dmax drivers have some sort of complex anyway. Lets compare engines for a minute. Dmax is 6. 6L has eight cylinders. Cummins is 5. 9L and 6 cylinders. I would hope the dmax could pull off a victory against a smaller engine or I would drive it with dark windows and a paper bag over my head. I think the dmax drivers were picked on in high school so they are going to run around and gloat if they beat a SMALLER motor, which a lot of times they can't even pull this off.

I love being the underdog because they never know what to expect. I probably shouldn't be popin' off here since I'm not to bombed and would probably get smoked by most Dmaxes. But, I am holding out until 400K to race Chubby's with the same mileage on the original engine.

I'll post in 10 years and let you know how it goes. :D
