Can someone recommend a good lift pump upgrade for my '00 RAM 3500? I have relocated the OEM pump to the framerail down by the tank. The pump is begining to fail. Time to upgrade. I would like a pump that is reasonably quiet.

Thanks

Bill

It matters what you want to spend on a system. The fass systems are awesome, but pricey... $600. If you just want to go cheap, but reliable & easily purchased locally..... Holley blue is a good choice. It is available at Advance Auto for $110, but you will need 2 nipple fittings to hook to your fuel lines. They are good pumps. There are other choices like Glacier, walbro, air dog & more, but I like Fass & Holley Blues myself.

I use the holley black pump and its been awesome, flows the most out of the holley pumps. pretty quite but once the truck is running you cant hear it anyway

I thought of running one on my truck before I bought the fass... . What kind of pressures do you get?

I bought a used 2000 and before I could get the edge system in it damage had already been done to the vp44 as the seller had repaired the intank fuel sock improperly, the vp44 had already been starved. Failure was imminent.

I installed the edge and immediately afterward the VP44 failed not because of the Edge, but prior low pressure which became evident with the Fuel pressure gauge. I first put a new stock lift pump with a Vulcan Big line kit next to the tank. Pressure improved to 13 psi, but would drop to 8 psi on WOT.

I wondered if the 1/2" lines had more volume but less pressure, but was still concerned about the low pressure.

I have since installed the Glacier kit with the Walbro pump. Normal pressures
idle 20 psi
normal driving 18-20
Lowest recorded pressure, wot while trailering 10,000 pounds 16 psi.

I think the Glacier kit does the job, and was disappointed with the Vulcan numbers.

Interesting that I had to go through 3 different conversions to get it right as I do not want to loose the expensive sho vp44.

hope this helps.

btw, I have the bigline Vulcan kit for sale for anyone that would like to buy it.

I do not think it is fair the you blame Vulcan for low numbers when it was your stock pump providing the low numbers. The Vulcan kit had nothing to do with that. I picked up 2-3 lbs of pressure at idle and 6 at WOT with the Vulcan kit from Geno's. SNOKING
