GREAT AMERICAN TRUCKING SHOW... Anyone going?

Parents Weekend?

I am and sure will be happy to see my son. Even if he is bald and marching around in a uniform.

Just curious if I should look for other members.

Well, I'm not going there anymore, since I graduated that fine institution in May 2000.

Take a look at the chapel-- I had my wedding there (upper level) a little over two years after graduation.

I hope your hotel accomodations are already made. You could be in for a VERY ugly surpise if they aren't. Most lodging places in the Springs triple their rates or worse twice a year-- Parents' Weekend and Graduation Week-- no surprise there!

The best part of visiting USAFA is the heavy duty cadet sweatshirts they sell there-- you can't find them like that anymore.

Oh, and the scenery is OK:)

tried to get in... . didn't..... decided it was for the best after coming to school in az and finding what I really want to do... ...

Have 4 friends who will graduate with me in April w/ flight spots coming out of our AF ROTC program here... very good selection rate last year... 21/23 got spots.

I was stationed there in Carswell, before they closed it down. My daughter was born on base, a lot of memories there. Used to live in White Settlement area at some apts there. Do they still have the off base site there too or did they move/close it down too?

I always wanted to go back to see what happened to the area. Maybe someday take my girl back ( shes now 16 ) and show here where we lived at. The General Dynamics plant was cool as we shared the flightline with the F-16 test pilots there. Used to go fishing at Lake Worth all the time under the interstate bridge. Sorry, just a flashback..... :)

Justin, Congrats on your graduation. Quite an accomplishment.

Yes I have reservations. Have had for a while.

That chapel is some kind of beautiful.

I am sure anxious to see my youngest son and his brother (MMcLain) who is coming down from WY.

Thanks for the offer, Mike! I haven't been to Carswell since it was just a USAF base-- no NAS!

I'm still on active duty, and love the quality of the people I get to work with. They are the single best part of my career, because the job itself can suck sometimes.

I had the chance to fly the F-16 sim here at Aviano-- it was sweet.

Dang USAFA doctors-- wish I could have flown:)

Karen-- is your son stationed in Cheyenne, or is he not in the military? I live in Cheyenne (when not stuck in Italy as I am presently)

Justin

Justin,

My oldest son is not military and he lives in Green River, WY. The youngest, well maybe your paths will cross. His girlfriend, my parents and I are sure looking forward to our first Academ visit this weekend.
