Us outdoors enthusiasts just got screwed by Clinton!

. . the real issue here, whether you are for or against shutting down the forests or factories (with the Kyoto Accord) is this.
Every law/regulation/guidline etc issued by anyone in the Federal government (including Clinton) derives from the US Constitution which is a creation of the several states in existence in the mid 1700s. The states gave the Federal very limited powers.

There is NO power granted the president to do what Clinton has done (not that he is the first to act as a dictator/despot). He may be YOUR favorite dictator as he implements Executive Orders YOU approve but that does not make his actions lawful, acceptable or in the long term, beneficial to this nation.

Someday it all comes apart, this political
mess. It is inevitable. You may have your precious trees standing tall but your great- great-great etc grandchildren will wonder why you sacrificed their country for your own lawless self-interests.

I remember reading a quote by Abraham Lincoln, it was on the liner notes (or the back cover) for the soundtrack CD from the Ken Burns series "The Civil War" that was on public TV a few years ago. I don't have the CD with me, maybe one of you has it and can copy the quote word for word. I don't remember the exact wording, but it went something like this:

"This country will never be destroyed by an outside force or invading army. If this country is destroyed, it will be done by our own people. "

(doggone it, I wish I knew the exact wording, I hate to be inaccurate in something like this, but my CD is stashed away at my folks' house 1,300 miles away!)

Andy,I know the quote and think you condensed it in a way that Abe would be proud of. Think all need to do is add is --- done from within by our own citizens.
