Does anybody know the CUMMINS lift pump #?

I have a 1995 Dodge 1ton Cummins with 171,000 troble free miles-until now. The vacuum pump coupler has a broken "ear" (where the vacuum pump coupler bolts up to the power steering pump). The vacuum pump itself appears to be fine , just the coupler has the broken part. Cummins and Dodge do not sell the coupler as a separate part, but only the whole vacuum pump assembly. They are VERY expensive. Does anyone have the coupler ONLY used? Is this a viable option or is there a good reason (other than corporate greed) for having to replace the entire assembly? Finally, who knows of a good source for used Cummins parts, particularly the stuff like vacuum pumps and the like. Thanks for your help.

You should try a big truck junk yard. I dont know if the large vehicles using this engine would use the vacuum pump, but it's worth a try.

Go through your phone book.

Did you try the NAPA type places? Ya never know... .

Nope big trucks run air compressor system for everything from brakes to windshield wipers. The P/U diesels are a hybrid using gas systems so need the vacuum pumps to operate brakes and vent systems. Look for a salvage yard specializing in P/Us.

Try this salvage yard

.

There is a Junk yard in northern Wisconsin that has a

bunch of Dodge Trucks with Cummins being parted

out. The guy to talk to is named Paul.

He has Cummins trucks from 1989 to 2001.

They will ship COD or take credit cards.

Their phone number is

1-800-338-4002.

Dieselpilot,

If I remeber right, the manufacturer of the adaptor is cast on the part. I think they have a web site. They make a lot of stuff for a lot of applications. Good luck.
