From a Snap-On ad in Motor Age magazine: "Poor performance can be caused by valves being out of adjustment. Proper valve clearance is critical with Cummins diesels. Factory recommends valve lash should be set at 0. 010" on intake & 0. 020" on exhaust... Note: Techs in field have found by decreasing exhaust valve lash by 0. 003" for a total of 0. 017". Small performance gain can be achieved.
