Veg oil as additive???

I have yet to see a study that addresses whether or not the cleaner emissions of the new fuel and emissions equipment offset the decreased mileage of the new trucks let alone the older trucks. Are we producing less emissions per gallon only to use more gallons and offset the benefit(or possibly even make things worse)?

Often wondered this myself.

On my 94, I come by a half gallon of store brand veggie oil on an aparment cleanout I was helping my brother with, I took it out and poured it in, ran fine, noticed a bit of a fryer odor for a while. This was in the summer months. I have been adding 1 gallon of motor oil per fill up for quite some time now, no problems, just better mileage. I came into a large quantity of old new motor oil for nothing so I am using it for fuel additive.
