I recently put a Stampede bug deflecter on my 05. I have on on my 02 also with a similar problem but not nearly as bad.

The vent cowelling rattles something fierce against the windshield under the wipers. I took it to the dealer and they say it is real common with upright deflectors. they put some foam under the cowling and that made it worse yet.

The air is more turbulant over this deflector but I do not like the low profile of the factory and other deflectors. I have tried many types and the stampede is more upright and is the only one that I have found that is worth anything as far as working as a deflector. It is the only one that actually keeps bugs and rocks from the window. It also seems to hold up to impacts better also. I have not broken 1 yet after many rocks and pheasants. Others just disintegrate with minimum impact and I still got rock chips on my hood and bugs on window. All the low ones do is protect the front of the hood and nothing else.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and what was the fix? I am going to try some glue on felt between the edge and window and see if that works.

I installed the Lund stainless steel bug guard on my 2005 and it works great, barely vibrates and doesn't make anything rattle. Rather then use the large sheet metal screws to tap into the plastic grill frame as instructed I used stainless cap bolts and nylocks to through bolt it to the grill frame. I didn't even have to use the rubber bumpers to keep it from bending back and hitting the hood. My windshield stays much cleaner with it. YAY!

ps--i don't own stock in Lund!:-laf

I had the same problem with my deflector as it is an upright shield that mounts between the hood and grill. What I did was get some 3m hook and loop tapes (velcro), hook side to the cowling and loop side to the windshield... all fixed... and still removeable.
