I've been thinking about getting some vent visors so I can have the windows down a little without the noise and air force. Which Brand do you prefer? In-channel or 3M taped? I would also like a little larger or wider, some look awful narrow.

I have the stick on Vent Visors on mine. I like them except for the fact that they cover (partially) the mirror mount. I had a problem with my tow mirror glass and thought while looking for a replacement I would put on the non-tow mirrors. I quickly realized there was no way to swap mirrors without removing the visor.

If the channel mount visors remove easily, that might be something to consider. I'm sure I could've cut and removed the tape and found a replacement, but it didn't seem worth it for a temporaray swap.

I also have the in channel type. I have accidentally popped one out once in two years...

Other than that no problems. I like the look of them much more than the taped on models.

I have the in channel on the CTD, but my 1500 has the taped ones and I almost can't wait for the rest of the tape to come off, so I can replace them. The wind noise is awful with the taped and they started to come off in about 2 months. In channel is much better.

BIG BOB,

As many others, I have the WeatherTech WeatherFlectors that mount inside the window channel on my 2004. I had a set on my 2001 as well. Have never experienced a problem with either set. As mentioned by testraub, there are two shades available. The light smoke takes on the shade/tint of the window and looks real good. Lots to choose from. Happy hunting!

Bob:

I have the vent shade stick-on ones on my '98 12V and have been very happy with them.

They have been on for 4-5 years, heavy wind/rain/snow and sun and still look like the day I installed them.

Also have no issues with wind noise or buffeting.

Got them at a local parts store clearance bin for $10. 00 (not sure if they were supposed to be in there as the sales guy looked somewhat surprised, but gave them to me anyway).

I had the stick on when I first got the truck.

After replacing the tape on the right front twice, I scrapped them and got the in channel.

I think i got them from Stylin Concepts.

I like them.

I've had my windows tinted from day 1 , with the weathertech's..... not a single scratch. Previous truck, same deal. :)

I had the tape on ventvisors on my 2001. They worked pretty well, but they started to come loose around the mirror. Had to try and re-tape them more then once. On my 2005 I bought the ventvisor in-channel. They have worked flawlessly for over a year. They haven't scratched the tint or the window that I can see. Also, on the tape-ons, any part of the tape that comes loose will let water in. So, when you're driving in the rain, with the window open just a little for circulation, the water would come inside. This doesn't happen on the in-channel type. Also, the in-channel type are a snap to put on... ;)

The '03's had a hard seal that would scratch the tint. I had my windows retinted twice in the first week I owned the truck because of this. The later models had a felt? seal that didn't scratch. I swapped seals with a guy that wasn't going to tint his windows. Not a problem in the three years since.

 I just had Vent Visors in channel installed. First time I used them the window, it went up & crushed the lower front corner. Going back today to have it checked.

I hope it was an installation error & not just a poor product!!
