99 2500 4X4 211K miles. I have a vibration @ idle to about 8-900rpms in park, any ideas as to cause, has anyone else had this experience?

John,

Did this come on gradually or start suddenly?

How old is the Bosch VP44 fuel injection pump?

Are you still using the original injectors? If so, the tips are likely very worn and not sealing well any longer. This can lead to poor idle quality and difficult starting. You can install a new set of stock injectors yourself for a cost of around $400.

does it go away when u drive? where do you feel the vibration. steering wheel. butt, floor board. does it do it when the vehicle is just cold or when warm also.

Fuel pump is about 1 yo, I noticed a couple of mo. ago & been trying diagnose. Start o. k. every time. You can feel in steering, foot feed & sitting in the passenger seat & it fluxuates. vibration is there warm or cold do not notice it going down the road. Has original injectors. A could it be harmonic balancer? just thought of that. .

cant see a harm, balancer causing that much vibration. so your saying at idle this is felt. but if its in neutral and you raise rpms you cannot feel it. sorta like it smooths out? not much of a auto transmission guy, but is this a sign also on the flexplate? are u getting any grey or odd color haze coming out of the exhaust in idle. like a bad fuel injection sequense? you could do a injector kill and see if you have a bad injector. have someone sitting feeling the vib and knock down the injectors and see if it goes away? check your balancer see if you have any seperation cracks or warped edges or twisted rubber?

WOW did not think on that low of rpm that would be doing so much vib, so was the dampner cracked really bad or seperating from the hub.
