I have been experiencing a vibration or shaking on normal to hard take off. Also a bad shimmy between 55-65 mph. at 70 mph she is smooth and if truck is loaded with 500 lbs or more she is smooth all the way around. Condition has existed since i purchased truck and i am at a loss on what else to do. Changed center bearing and u joints and no improvement. new and old tires, balanced, same symptoms. New rims, same sympton. Is something not lining up right?? Any help would be appreciated.

Try checking your u bolts on the spring packs and make sure all of the suspension components and steering components are tight.

Did you check the slip-joint on the driveshaft? Should be tight with no rotational or "up-down" play (i. e. , lying on the ground and pushing up/pulling down on driveshaft at the slip joint there should be no back and forth play).

I get some of that too. It sounds like my aluminum running boards vibrating, but they seem solid. I do notice a lot of up & down shaft slop in my transmission extension housing. I wonder about the bushing at the tail shaft. It sounds to me like it's coming from that area. It is real noticable in lock up OD at about 65-70, when I lay a little torque against the driveline. After about 75, it quits. Might be time to pull the OD unit off & have it gone through.

I would LOVE to here the fix for this. Mine does the same thing, I took the shaft out and had it balanced and U joints and bearing were fine. Still vibrates bad at 55-65, I have had the tires (Goodyear ATS 235/85) rebalanced 3 times. I still think it's in the tires though. I can visibly watch anything in the cup holder shake and vibrate as well as the passenger seat when it's empty, and with the trailer on it seems smooth.

Well,I wish I could help but mine does it too. From 65-72 above or below is ok. Almost has a grinding noise. I hate to stay in the chatter zone thinking I'll really be hurting something.

So let's hope someone has an idea.

I had the same "rattleing" type of in noise in 4th OD under load since the truck was new, brought it in under warranty and they claimed they could not hear it ! I even removed my running boards to verify it wasn't them. Seemed to really quite down and is not really noticable when I replaced the tires at 79K.

Could be a number of things. I had a Ford where the pinion nut was loose and as I recall I had a vibration too. Just brainstorming here.
