Just got word my vp44 crashed with 110k and my less than a year old Air tex lift pump may be the cause!!I suppose I should feel lucky given the history of these trucks.vp44 was on eng for nine years.Truck has 239k on it and is second inj. f/p. Looking for a cheaper replacement. Has anybody got a good supplier for these fuel pumps and lift pumps???

A good rebuild will run about 1k, maybe a little less. Genos has FASS pumps with lifetime warranty. Most of these injection pumps give 100k worth of service so not too bad considering how cheap they are to replace.

FWIW, I have had really good luck with the mopar in tank fuel pump setup.

Don't you have a low fuel pressure warning light? Or fuel pressure gauge?

That's the first thing I wondered. Fuel pressure gauge is a must.

FYI, cheap and quality dont go hand in hand. I won't recommend a pump because I have a feeling it will be above your price point, but make sure whoever you go through the VP at the very least uses a reman fpcm. As recent as last year a couple of the big name online vendors admitted to me over the phone their reman VPs came with used fpcm's. These are the pumps being sold for $900-$1000 bucks with at most a 1 year warranty. Basically they bench test the computer and if it passes it goes on your reman pump. So your getting a used fpcm witj unknown miles/heat cycles. These are the pumps everybody complains about burning up just past the warranty stage because that's about all they will last. Anything past that your on borrowed time.

8 to 9 years is pretty good life, how many miles were put on it in that time? You may consider going back that route if it worked well for you. And add a fuel pressure gauge to the project if you dont have one.

Could not get lift pump to cycle during f/f change had to pek on it with a hammer.Definate lift pump failure. Will try one more Airtex then who knows what?

Knock on wood, I have been running a AirTex pump for four or five years! Do you have a small inline 100-140mc filter ahead of it? SNOKING

Air tex will not warranty their pumps without a 100mc filter ahead of it. SNOKING

Is your gp gauge accurate? I dont like fp below 14 so that the overflow is open allowing more fuel to lubricate and cool injection pump. But like said before damaga starts at 10psi or below

The gauge showed 12 to 14 most of the time.I would think the inline filter could be purchased at any auto parts store as maybe a diesel shop only.
