Some of those who are viewing this but not voting or posting are like me, pump is working great, truck has 2118 miles on it, doesn't help much. But I still want to see the results. JTMcC.

Here Here.

Mine is running good Knock on wood. I thought I was losing it recently but it was a APPS IAT thing. Alls good @ 77,000 miles. Bombed for 7,000 at least thats when I tapped the wire. :D

failed pumps

Stock 2002 24V with 86,000 miles. I am on my fouth VP44 and third lift pump. First replacement was at 17,000 and have experienced a failure of one or the other about every 15,000 miles since. I have parked the truck and canceled the insurance. Can't seem to get any support from Dodge. May pursue Lemon Law. I would like to keep the truck, but cant afford that kind of maintenance once the warrenty runs out. Any suggestions?

So far, so good. 122,000 miles. edge comp(as an EZ) from about 7k to 95k. then tapped wire around 95k. 275 injectors from around 60k. vulcan fuel mod since about 110k.

I've had gauges since about 7k and replaced lp's as pressure fell below 10psi @ idle. Also have used ps fuel additive (white or gray bottle depending on the season) in almost every tank since I bought it.

VP 44 failure

Pump failed at 55,000 miles.

edge ez since 10,000,

edm mach injector since 25,000, FASS since 32,000 fuel pressure guage since new. Tried to vote in poll, could not vote.

VP went at 70K miles. I didn't have a FP guage at the time (dumb) but suspect the LP. Been adding some sort of additive/lubricant from day one.

My rig is pretty much stock and does a lot of towing. The new VP has 5K miles on it and is running fine.

180,000 miles.

I've got 180,000 miles on my stock VP and my second lift pump. I'm running

DDIIs and an EZ. The short block was replaced at around 90,000 (cracked 53 block), I smoked the transmission because I thought that I could get away with a couple mods without doing anything to the transmission and I had to rebuild the t-case. Those are the only problems that I've had with the drivetrain.

The block was one of those things that happen and it was taken care of on warranty, the transmission was my fault (I knew that it would probably happen) and I rebuilt it myself and the t-case was a broken spring in a synchro hub that let things scatter and it was after warranty ran out so I rebuilt that one myself.

VP Inj. pump failure.

My VP inj. pump failed at 158k miles. On my 4th lift pump but they were all replaced when fuel press. gauge started to fluctuate. I now have the new in-tank LP.

Truck has 275 inj's and a boost fooler. stock otherwise.

Hi Gus. Good meeting on Sat.

Original VP44 still working fine here (Knock on wood). Truck is bombed and wire has been pierced for the past 30 000 miles.

I'm thinking that there is information to be gained with the YEAR and then the poll information. I see ALOT of 02's failed at about 50k (including mine :{ )

My truck is 100% stock and my VP44 just died at 61K. I'm thankful it happened under warranty. Let's see how long the replacement lasts.

Well Saturday (Jan 14th) I felt like the Grim Reaper, I went to make some house calls on 4 trucks that would not run... ... ... ..... all have the VP's gone. A 2000, 1998. 5, and 2-2001's. So was not the best news to tell people that you have the death codes P0216 and P1689... ... ... ..... all I needed was a sickle and would have fit the part of the Reaper... ... ... . I like working on these trucks, but don't like being the bearer of bad news.

Stock truck 1st lift pump and injection pump replaced at 51000 miles. Fuel gage installed at 52000 miles. Bouncy fuel pressure readings and inconstant lift pump performance. Second lift pump and VP44 installed at 92000 miles. Steady pressure for 1000 miles then bouncy fuel pressure readings again. Installed aftermarket fuel delivery sytem and am waiting to see if I get more than 50,000 miles out of a VP44.

59,000 ml, vp is doing good so for, change lp at 45,000 ml. had been checking fuel psi before with a hand held fuel psi gauge sinch truck only had 10,000 ml on it. that was every 2 or 3 weeks, after making fuel filter change, at 45,000 ml thats when i check fuel psi and it was only 4 psi at idle, so i must have only put approx. 500 ml. on truck with weak lp. dc change it under warranty, i installed gauges in truck right after that. but guys the bad problem i had with truck was a/c problem,5 times to shop. hey guys i just talked to a friend about 3 weeks ago, had'nt talk to him in over 1 year, we live in south la. he does hot shot for oil companys. he has 325,000 ml. on a 2002/3500/ 6speed HO. he change lp at about 40,000 that he could remember, still running good till today, he ask me to go over to his house to check his fuel psi. and have a few cold ones. sence he had weekend off, can not believe it, 12psi at idle, the only thing he add s to his truck is (lucas fuel inj)

2001.5....126,000 miles

My '01 has 126,000 miles on it and I am still running the original injection pump. I got lucky and installed a fuel pressure gauge just as my first LP started to die at 118,000. For the first 100,000 miles on my truck I used PS in every tankful of fuel. I quit doing it for awhile, but I decided to start using it again... just a precaution. This is an interesting thread. We need a database expert to collate the results, and see if there are common factors for failure.

2001.5 150K on original VP44

I have 150K on my VP 44 with no failure, however I put a FP gauge on at 20K and am on the 3rd replacement LP (4th total counting the one it came with). Engine is stock, except a 4" exhaust and I have probably been over 2500 RPM's less than a dozen times. I rarely use a fuel treatment. I am wondering if most of the failures have been on hot rod trucks and/or driven hard with a stock motor? I drive mine more like a "truck" much as a big rig in a fairly narrow RPM range usually about 1600-2200 RPM and at steady speeds when on the highway. Be interesting to really know the driving habits of the failure vs. non failure trucks to see if there is an correlation.
