I was hoping for some info. from someone with more fuel injection experience than my self. My personal opinion is that the VP44 & it's type was never meant to pump 4500 psi. This is a cheaper pump & I believe that is why it was used. Couldn't an electronic coupling have been put in front of the P7100 to vary the timing for emissions? All the old axial piston pumps fed 2000 lb cracking pressure injectors & these were stone reliable. I don't believe the VP44 was, again, meant to operate at 4500 lbs. I do not know the system pressure of the old VE pump. If it is low could these injectors be used in the 2nd Gen? A VP operating at 2000 psi could probably be put in your will. A good operating catalyst will do wonders if emissions into the cat. are some higher. I'm not concerned about slightly higher emissions anyway, I doubt the EPA is losing sleep over failed VP44 pumps. Is it possible to change the VP44 into a low pressure injection system? What injectors? I understand the VP44 keeps getting better & better. It is never going to be a 500,000 mile pump though, as it should be. I realise mechanical failures are only one part of the VP's problems, I think the electronics can be sorted out much more easily than the rotor seizing & internal breakage. Thanks for any help, Randy
