Is there any reason, other than to make it a PITA to reach the rear injectors, to replace the rear engine hoist bracket? Do those bolt holes go anywhere critical? Couldn't I just put the bracket in my tool box in case I ever need to pull the engine?

I don't recall any sealant on the threads of mine when I did my own VP-44 swap, and used a couple of washers to make up for the thickness of the hoist loop and reinstalled to bolts, and did as you suggest - left the loop off but saved it just in case...

I would. Save the old one as a spare. I hear they are a pain to get to with the pump installed. By the way it is a cam position sensor.

While I've got the pump out, should I replace the Crank Position Sensor?

That's one of those "let your conscience be your guide" - or "Warm and fuzzy feeling" sort of things. If you're certain the existing one is OK, why swap it out? On the other hand, they're a first class %&*%$ to swap with the VP-44 in place...

Do the bolts have to go back in? I thought I read somewhere that the installer left them out too? I hope they dont have to go back in, I didnt put mine in.

Only thing about leaving the holes empty, is the crud that will collect in them in case you DO need to get the bolts back in - and besides, the bolts are no obstacle to getting to the back injector anyway...
