Is it worth it or not? Does it come with the complete hardware to move it down on the frame (wiring harness, extended banjo hoses etc. . ) Also does it vibrate more and do the pressures change? Thanks for any input.

Yes it is worth it. One of the best modifications I have done to the truck. As for vibration, you can still "here" it when you turn the key on. I never did or now feel it, however it does sound different. The pressure did change for me, 15 psi at idle and 13 psi at wot. When I need to change the next pump, whenever that may be will be a 5 minute job. The kit comes with everything you need, to do a neat quality job.
 
most defintly worth the money, installed mine almost 2 months ago, the kit had everything you need to move the LP from the engine to the frame and was a real easy install, and next time i have to change the LP it shouldnt be over a 5 min job.

Absolutly worth it to me. This isnt a HP gain mod, but wow I sure feel better when I mash the throttle and the FP gauge doesnt drop to the bottom. With new "$70 lift pump" I see ~15psi no load and ~10psi full load. The stock location, 50k mile old pump with stock plumbing ran 12 or 13 no load, but rapidly dropped to the 4-6 area on hard throttle, went lower the longer the fuel was on.

And as said above, if this poor little cummins LP fails (again), it will be a VERY easy R&R.
 
Certainly worth the money to relocate the pump. After I moved mine the pump was still bad but it improved the numbers but could not correct the pump that was going south. After installation of the $70 pump I got the same numbers as talked about above. Because I am pretty much stock except for the Super Chip program I am not sure going from 3/8" to 1/2" was necessary but it sure did not hurt anything. Over all a good installation I would say ranks right up there as one of my best installs for piece of mind alone. Hopefully my pump will last longer than 10 months which is how old my other pump was; time will tell. Starting in June will be starting a trip of around 3500 miles pulling my 14,000# 5ER should tell the tail.
 
I've not found replacing the pump to be a 5 minute project. Maybe an hour. It's hard to get the threads started again when the pump is replaced.
 
I am very happy with my setup. It improved my idle. The Vulcan kit comes with a fitting to test pressure between the VP and the Fuel Filter. Eric is very helpful also.
 
Dont know about trueloves' '99, but my 98. 5 kit does not come with the tee for PSI guage, as my filter head has provisions for the gauge install.







As far as minuets on R&R, I suppose that assumes the 3 screws and two fittings thread well, and no misshaps. None the less it it substatialy easier to get to that in the stock location.

And I'll take this chance to reiterate the absolute solomn peace of mind achived by a constant fuel delivevry to the vp. Its been said here that the most vital part of that kit is the piece between the filter and the VP, plus the elimination of all inlet banjo fittings. Whatever the reason, this kit shure makes a poor boy's butthole relax when he looks at a $1000 Injetion pump.



P. S. --- Iwork on hydraulic powered equipment. I completely understand that those fittings require a special touch to thread easily, especialy the JIC fittings.











And I can change my pump in its' relocated state in LESS than five min. I would'nt make any money if I couldn't. ;) Damn those book times!! :p

love the vulcan kit, the hardest part was cutting the existing stainless line on the suction side had to borrow a really small tubing cutter. well worth the purchase fuel psi went up at idle to 16 psi

This is good to hear. I just bought mine today. This will give me some piece of mind, right now everytime I drive the truck I keep thinking about the LP and when it's going to crater.
 
What's the difference between the Vulcan kit and Geno's kit other than 1/2" line? Do I really need to run sewer pipe sized line??
 
Genos only goes to the filter with a 3/8"line. The vulcan kit adds a line to the VP44 and includes a tee that i installed between the filter and VP44 to show the pressure to the injection pump.

the stock line is 3/8" right? Put the lift pump on the frame rail, tie into the exsiting fuel line, tie into the fuel filter up at the engine... there you go.



Am I missing something?

Please post your parts list with costs when you're done. I suspect you'll be well over $15 in material and your time to hunt down the right parts by the time you're finished.

I don't think it will be hard at all to make... I have plenty of time right now, just little money.
 
Where can you guys find lift pumps for $70. 00?? Jeg's has a listing for a Carter Competition Series, Black Pump for $100. 00.

The Vulcan kit includes the bracket needed to mount the pump in front of the tank, the electric extension cord so it just plugs in, fittings and gaskets.

Also

i think the new hoses have some right angle fittings to make them fit better.

if in doubt give Eric a call.
 
Nate -I made my own - probably ended up with better quality hoses but the time and fuel costs I spent wasn't worth it. Getting the AN fittings to replace the banjo bolts wasn't easy, not available at local supply. I made the decision to move the mounting bracket and cover the hole with a blank GM plate. The plate was warped and I had an oil leak -- tried to flatten the plate and new gasket with sealer - still leaked. Bought a new bracket $40, leak fixed. If I had to do it again I would buy the Vulcan kit.
 
Nate, Let me see how easy is going to be to find those fittings, to replace all banjos, and to hook up the lift pump by the tank, and the quality of your home made electrical connection. I say, it's worth an extra work shift, to buy a product, that someone already put a lot of thought and effort to make work effortlessly.

In my opinion the Vulcan kit is unbeatable. I'm really glad I did it.
