Haven't been here for a long time. Tribute to Ol' Reliable!

It is time for new rotors though. The last set I had someone put on were trashed in no time ( whatever CarQuest carries) and so am trying to find higher quality and maybe try drilled and slotted units. After searching through the archives I don't think I 've been able to find anything pertinent to the 1 ton. All the old references to rotor quality referred to American/Canadian made units but I think that's all but impossible to find now. Other issues are casting #'s that are hard to make sense of. Some online companies

(brakeplanet.com & rockauto.com) offer rotor casting #'s: 99755 and 100353The 100353 seems to cross reference with the rear shoe casting and a related hub casting #102762. But calls to the folks there are only leaving all of us more confused.

If anyone has any clue to what all this means as well as any recommendations for top quality units I would much appreciate it before I start tearing down to try and find casting #'s and such.

TIA, Bob

Just as an FYI ...

I also am running Carquest rotors. Not great quality I agree. I think they were made in China. They warped in 6 months. I had them turned about 9 months ago and now I can feel them starting to go again.

Raybestos or Bendix seem to be the better units, if the cost almost twice as much as the cheapies they should be good. Warped a set of the cheapies in less than a year and bought good ones the last time. In the case of rotors and drums, you definitely get what you pay for. :)

Carquest carries two different lines of rotors and brake parts. The economies(PDR part #)are made in China and use lower quality steel. The premiums(BDR part #)are made in the USA and use a better quality steel. The premium parts are Raybestos. Most auto parts stores do this and it really is a get what you pay for situation. If you want the quality you got to do your research.
