I may be Paranoid!!
I have a 95 Ram 2500. I go to work at 5:45 AM and the temp this weekend has been 50 degrees or just under and my Wait to Start light comes on and goes off just like it was 80 degrees.
I got the truck this spring and it was cold enough once to make the heaters cycle once or twice so I know that this is not long enough now?
I had the most recent recall done on the Ignition switch relay, but not before I saw a little smoke come from the stering wheel. The dodge dealer I went to said the checked the switch.
My Question is has any one else had a problem since the recall has been done, could my problem be some thing else, and what should I check first??
HELP?

Thanks in advance.

RCMC,I think the best thing to do is wait until it gets a little colder before you start worrying. You really don't need to wait to start till it gets below 40,if your heaters don't come on at that temp for at least 30 seconds then you have a problem.

RCMC,

I'd say your intake heater and wait-to-start light are working correctly. I agree with illflem that it is still to warm to worry about it.

When it's cool, but not cold, the wait-to-start light will stay illuminated for a shorter time than when it is really cold. The heater stays on longer. After start, the heater will cycle (noticeable on the voltmeter and dimming lights) for a longer period when it is cold compared to when the temperature is milder. This is normal operation.

Wait until some colder weather, 40 degrees or below, before you condemn your intake heating system. I'll bet it will work correctly.

RCMC, If your Truck set for say 7 hours and the outside temp. did not get cool until late, your engine could have easily stayed warm enough to keep the temp under your hood to above 60(I think that is the temp the heaters cycle). Those massive engines stay warm for a long time!

Mac have to agree with Salvo depending when engine was turned off,but also if the front end has protection from cold, could keep heaters from coming on.
If your blowing white smoke on start up heaters should of come on but didn't.
Check intake manifold sensor and connections, also heater relays and connections, Connections at heaters.
PCM should turn on heaters at
59 to 15 10 sec.
15 to 0 15 "
0 & below 30 "
If your engine is running good and no white smoke after start up you should be OK.

Nothing wrong with waiting till the light goes out, even in warm weather. You are assured that the lift pump has filled and pressurized the VP44.
