The new Edge combo box is going to be a no brainer bomb for the ETC engine. ETH owners will have to have at least injectors, turbo, and boost module to get the same amounts of power, at a much higher dollar cost. I've seen it happen on the dyno.

Jyro, I don't know if I put in the larger injectors and DD box if I would outperform the ETC or not. The thing about the ETH is that it is pretty well optimized already. A VA box definitely helps them but from posts I've seen about injectors, there doesn't seem to be a big seat of the pants gain if you know what I mean. There is gain but with the ETC it's around 40 hp compared to the ETH with the 275s is around 30 hp. Right? That's 25% more bang for the ETC. The ETH has smaller injector nozzles and probably different pop off pressure. Without doing some serious BOMBing you probably won't feel a lot of change. I haven't been in a truly BOMBed ETH yet so I'm just speculating here.

Thanks everybody for all the info and viewpoints. I'm going to start a new thread about your opinions on my best place to start. For example, injectors, or box, or exhaust, or etc... In this thread I'll start, I don't necessarily want to know which injectors or box or exhaust is the better choice, just which bomb should be 1st. After I make my decision which one should be first, then I'll determine which product is best. After all, I'd hate to just, "let," a V8 6. 6L or 7. 3L (I think the PS is 7. 3L) pull away from me since my ETC has so much potential. If I bomb, I wanna do it right, I don't necessarily want tons of power, just want to make the right decisions for me. Thanks for the help. Please continue this thread (and I will too) but jump over to my other thread to put in your opinions.

JyRO,

I feel your pain in a big way.

I have a 98. 5 4x4 Auto. I've been seriously looking at a ETH/DEE. As we all know, a broke in Cummins runs much better than a new one, and the ETH/DEE ran over my 98. 5 as if the parking brake was on.

When I started adding up what it would cost to get this truck where I want it... I think NEW is the way to go. Especially because I want the 6-speed instead of the auto.

Additionallym before I start any BOMB'ing. The truck is at the threshold of needing typical maintanance stuff very soon. (Change of: Anti-freeze, Front brakes/brake fluid, batteries(soon), transmission/transfer case/axles fluids, etc. . )

All before I spend 1 dollar on BOMB'ing. Having done some preliminary numbers, I think I can get a 2001-2002 for about a $7K outlay. Minus what I would spend on this truck... . the outlay is minimal.

Plus, for what its worth, I get a new warrantly #ad

Deezal - I think I agree with your mathematics there, in the case that you're looking to either upgrade your 98. 5, or buy a '01/'02. One thing to add though, if you ever think you'd be interested in a 4 door, you may want to consider waiting on the '03, just to see what it's like. I don't blame you for wanting a new truck, if for nothing else just to get a manual transmission. But in my case, what I'm hearing is that I can get more out of the ETC than the ETH. I'm not sure I really care about that though, cause I'm not looking to max it out or make it a race truck. Just wanting a stout puller and something that'll outrun at least a stock PSD or DMAX.
