Want an ENGINE brake for your B-series?! Vote here!

As referenced in this post, Pacbrake is willing to investigate the possibility of adding a REAL, honest to goodness engine brake for the Cummins B-series engines to their engineering/R&D schedule.



This can only move forward if we can come up with some rough data stating the product could be a good value for customers and represent a good ROI for the company.



Please vote accordingly and above all - be honest. The most accurate information we can acquire will certainly help move things along.

NOTE: Try not to think about the following things before you vote...



1) Will there need to be 3 part numbers for this to accomodate different valvetrain/injector combos? (12-valve, ISB, ISBe)

2) Will it have multiple settings to control the operation?

3) What kind of electronics will I have to add to my 12-valve?

4) Will this work with my billet rocker arms?

5) Will this work with high lift camshafts?



All of these concerns will be addressed at some point. We're at the ground floor right now with this idea - please be patient.

This should beat a exhaust brake hands down right?, if so then there will be a lot of exhaust brakes for sale (both non remote as well as remote).



What about engine degradation?

I'd buy one, but not from this manufacturer. They have a bad history in the fleet my boss owns. The one on the truck I drive is only two years old and has been in for repair 3 times. Almost every other truck in the fleet with a Pacbrake has had the same problems. Great idea-get a different company to do it. Call Jacobs in Bloomfield, CT.

I would replace my exhaust brake with one if the price is right. My real concern is the the set up procedures. With engine brakes on larger say class 8 trucks the adjustment is critical or you will easily have bent push rods, etc. The exhaust brake is pretty much plug and play for the most part. I see perhaps a large frustration and possible damage by carelessness. Dang will have to start obeying the signs out side towns now!!!!
