Larger tires, gages, lift kits, exhaust systems and cold air induction systems are done on a regular basis.
They can not void the warranty just because of this, but they can decline warranty repairs if related to the failure.
If you add a trans control, fuel control boxes etc. they CAN void your power train warranty.
Every dealer is different due to attitude/customer relation and perceived extent of truck/warranty abuse.
Some shops ignore what others may perceive as unacceptable.
For the most part they can not void a claim based on perception. They need reasonable doubt/cause a mod could have logically contributed to the failure.
So if you have a fueling box, trans problems and take it to the dealer for warranty, it`s most likely going to be denied...
If you have gages, oversize tires and a cold air induction system and the truck has A/C problems, it`s not going to be an issue.
Some dealers will repair ball joints under warranty with a lift kit and other will not. As an insurance/extended warranty inspector, I see this stuff everyday.
Some warranty companies allow 4% overall tire size change, other`s up to 10%. It all depends on the mods relation to/of or possible relation to/of the failure as perceived by the dealer/warranty company, your contract and legal limitations.![]()
