I have a 2003 SRW 1 ton with just under 36,000 miles on it.

Am looking at buying an extended warranty from Seimans DC in Bridgman, MI

Can get the total warranty, like we have for the first 36,000 miles for $2,155 for a 4x4

Any comments would be appreciated

What's the deductable? I am planning on the Dodge 7/100K $100 deductable for my '04. Dealer is selling it for $1995 if ordered as part of the truck deal. I got burned when Warranty Gold went TU, so I'm not to fond of 3rd party warranties anymore.

Hunter 1, just make sure it is a Daimler/ Chrysler extended warranty and not a aftermarket job, you would probably be SOL if you needed to make a claim with an aftermarket outfit. And being the nice folks D/C are you would not know till after they did the work!! Know for sure!! Mark

Paid just under $1500 for 7 year 75,000 mile total care package

this one covers everything except glass trim and hoses and brakes... . Pretty small list of do not cover!!!

Dittos here. WG went belly up 5 days after I bought into it. I was lucky. My credit card got me a full refund, but for a week I felt like I really got screwed! 'Specially since they knew the situation all along while they were selling me. I thought (and still think) that the deal of the contract would have been good coverage. Look close into who you are buying it from. Probably not all are bad, but it dont feel good when one gets hosed! Call BBB and other authorities. Do your homework.

Yes it is Maximum Care from DC and the deductible is $50, covers everything the new truck warranty covers until 2008 or 100,000 miles.

The way I look at it, with all the spendy stuff on these toys it only takes one computer or something to go to get your $2,000 back.

Here is the website, check it out and let me know your feelings

Extended warranty

On 1-6-04 I purchased a 7 yr, 100,000 mile, $50 deductible all inclusive extended warranty (not including things like brake pads, fluids, belts, etc. ) from Gen. Mgr. Rick Manning of Chaprell Dodge in Ada, Oklahoma for my 2003 3500 QC SRW 2WD. Price was $1890. 00, and was contingent on vehicle having less than 12,000 miles at time of purchase of warranty. Their number is 800-880-2427.

One way that I look at the extended warranty on a high ticket item like these trucks is, "if after 7 years and 100,000 miles, my truck has been so reliable that I didn't get my money's worth out if the warranty, am I supposed to feel bad?"

I agree with you on this. I felt this way when I purchased mine as I am planning on keeping the truck stock. If any one decides to bomb thier truck, then any aftermarket waranty could be in jeopardy just as factory coverage.

Well, I've had many of the same thoughts. My final conclusion is to sell back/cash out of my 1530 dollar 5year/100k if the truck seems to not be a lemon. When I cash out depends on how enticing 2004 1/2's report cards are ! 30k a year milage puts me to about this summer to make a decision, By the way its a DC warrnty.

I opted out all together will stick with the factory warranty. The 100 dollar deductible was the biggest reason. if it had a zero deductible and cost 1200 or less then I probably would of gone for it. I read the warranty manual from cover to cover and the Cummins motor has the best DC standard factory warranty hands down.

The only problem with the Cummins motor warranty, it is the "motor" only, and nothing that hangs off or on it, i. e. the injector pump.

How much would an injector pump cost?

I paid $2500 for the DC Max care 7 year/ 100k zero deduct warranty. When I called Chrysler, they said the price was $2995. I bought from Lithia and it was a total pain in the butt as it took 3 trys to get the correct warranty. Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg Idaho had the same $2500 deal. My opinion is, if it isnt a zero deduct warranty, why bother. Also, never buy a no name warranty. Been ther, done that, got screwed bad.

warrenties

Why give your discount back to them? for something that you have to go through the mud to get covered.

when i bought my 95, and got to that point with the paper work, looked him the eye, told him it was not worth more than $400. 00 and he knew it, we went on to the rest of the paper work. wife is a retired financial adviser/ loan officer. this is her opinion also. But do what ever you fell is right for your piece of mind.

just my penny's worth.
