Ok, so this morning I jumped on the freeway and by the time I got to the end of the ramp, truck sputtered and died. At first, it freaked me out as it felt just like when the VP died a little over a year ago! Anyway, I tried starting it, and noticed the FP Gauge was at maybe 2-3 and I could tell I wasnt getting pressure. Gauge said I had a 1/4 tank of fuel, but soon discovered it was empty when I banged on the tank to see if somthing got stuck on the pick up tube again. Well, It sounded pretty empty. So, just a note to those of you that got rid of the filter assembly on the sending unit, dont go lower than 1/4 tank, as it causes you to lose the ability to get the last little bit of fuel of the bottom of the tank.
ANYWAY, my question is this, I had 1/2 gallon of Powerservice additive, and 1 quart of 2 cycle oil in the truck, I poured that in the tank, bled the injectors and it fired right up, and got me to the fuel station a couple miles down the freeway. (got me with in a mile at least... then I just coasted the rest of the way... I was impressed that it rolled that well, that far, on mainly flat ground!
Anyway, was that a bad idea to do, or do ya think I will be fine?
