Competition Twin turbo Hp Numbers

Competition Diesel Drags (Woodburn Or) Aug7th

I just want to post a thanks to all who made it happen. Cummins, ATS, Bandimere, and the other vendors. I also want to say thanks the racers that came from all over to race up here.

The dyno day at ATS was the first time I have ever seen one live and it was impressive. Especially when Maddog cracked the hose off his turbo at almost 120psi:eek: Unfortunately I missed the unreal Duramax pull (I think it was 790 HP/1340FT-LBS) but the truck ran pretty bad at the track today so I was not impressed. On the dyno it was running on propane, nitrous, and water-meth with stock turbo, injectors, and a whole lot of electronics. Clint just finished a $7000 Allison upgrade for him. I thought the Allison was bulletproof out of the box?

I saw Clint's Graphite 3rd Gen in the 13's with the prototype Edge box and some other mods.

Maddog, Hoss, the white 2wd, and the blue 4WD(you guys know who I am talking about) were very impressive at the track today. Cummins powered trucks were the only ones in the 11's and almost the 10's.

I have video and some pictures. I don't have a way to convert the video to digital at the moment but when I do I will post the it.

I guess all of the fast trucks were running automatics?? What was the fastest shifted truck if you remember? I was wondering if one of these trannies set up for competition would be streetable with a jake and for heavy towing?--thanks for someone who lives to far from ATS to go and watch the big boys play.

Excellent. I am glad Maddog got to run. When I left at 8:45 his top turbo was DOA. Compressor housing OK, cartridge destroyed (shaft OK) - Turbine blade a bit smaller than is was when it started, and the turbine housing had a bite taken out of it. They were trying to find another turbo and get it to Denver by Sunday Morning (in less than 12 hours).

BTW both times when the turbo popped, he was beyond the duramaxes run, and he was still climbing. I would love to know what that truck puts down on a good run.

That is a nice number for a Duramax, even if it is a drug addict  :D

Fastest 5 or 6 speed up there I wouln't know.

But, the fastest 5 speed known WAS Jeff Prince's 1-ton singlecab Twin Turbo 12v. It ran 12 flats

I say WAS because I'm pretty sure he switched to a built auto transmission.

The fast trucks were running autos. I do remember a 3rd Gen manual truck that seemed stock(stock exhaust and no smoke) in the 17's. I think ATS can build you a pretty stout auto for $4-5K that will handle a jake. I personnally opted for the manual because I like the 6-choices when trailering.

So what were the track times? Maddog didn't break the 10s?

Sorry, it was Fletcher with a 11. 03 and the MPH king at almost 134.

Sorry, but I ran a 11. 07 to win the fastest truck award which was during the time trials, and the 7000lbs crew cab 4X4 managed to hit 124. 2 mph in the 1/4 and 7. 08 seconds in the 1/8 with a 1. 64 60'. I also bent a push rod after the 1/8 which cost me a 10 sec run. Flecthers truck sure hauls butt on the top end.

Awesome job guys. It's hard to believe just how fast these things are getting...

Did Scott have the rail out? Any more 8 second passes.

Maddog, it was a pleasure deflecting your exhaust out of the ATS shop with the creeper, and watching you get the turbo back together. I looked like a human chimney sweep when I was done! I am glad you got to run finally after the turbo problems. Congratulations!

Thanks ATS, awesome day Saturday and glad I was recruited to put the tape on the harmonic balancers for the dyno :)

It was nice to see everyone from the TDR, Hoss, Richard, Scott Bentz and the Diesel dragster, etc, etc (not meaning to leave anyone out).

Thanks again!

I had a blast!!!!:D

Richard it was great to meet you I hope you make out here to Washington soon!!!

Scott It was a also a pleasure to meet you and Dustin that is one heck of a car you guys have there!!! I hope to see you again soon also.

Jake, thanks for everything you are a hell of a guy and I won't forget I owe you dinner. All of the people at ATS were great and made us all feel welcome.

The folks at Bandimere were outstanding. That has got to be the most organized track I have ever raced on (not that I have been on a lot) but they really kept it moving nicely.

I hope everyone had as good a time as I did. The weather did try to ruin it for us but the sun came thru when we needed it.

I would also like to apologize to several people who stopped to say hi and I was too busy to talk to. Especially one guy from Diesel inovations (I tried so hard to remember his name on the way home!!!I think the last name was Lott????)

He knew who I was and I tried to get back to talk to him but we never got in touch. Sorry

That was a great weekend!!

Thanks to ATS, Cummins, Bandimere, etc. for such a well-run event. I will plan to attend next year.

Bandimere has got to be the coolest setup going; the pits are above the grandstands, and overlook the track. It was very well run indeed, except the starters didn't seem to know why they were there... They were letting trucks stage when their competitor hadn't even done their burnoff yet. Pretty stressful to come forward out of your burnoff to see your opponent fully staged... :( I had timed-out during time trials, so had to rush every run after that in hopes of getting staged.

It was great to see Jake again (ATS made a good move getting you), and finally meet Richard Madson, LaserBob, and everyone else (sorry for lack of names, guys, only going on 3 hours of sleep after a 21 hour drive). Great hospitality; hope we can reciprocate with you folks at the Randy's/ PDR event in September.

There were a few guys who really helped out on breakages; Fletcher blew a boot right before I blew the front off my top turbo on my second pass (more about my twins later). Nobody seemed to have a spare to lend him, so I gave him the one off my truck. With Jake's assistance I got my turbo back up, then borrowed a boot from Scott Hamilton to get me back on the track. LaserBob put together an unconventional setup to keep my snap ring on (it tried to come off on the next pass), and Hoss, Byron, and the Fletchers were right there making sure everyone stayed together. Special thanks as usual to Will Fletcher for working his tail off. :)

That elevation sure plays havoc! No records being set up there... I was impressed with Maddog's truck; it does indeed look fast going down the track (one of the few that does). Would liked to have seen it on the dyno.

I watched Fletcher's 11. 03 run as well. Time to post a time slip, eh Fletcher? That truck looks frickin' BAD, and is a total crowd pleaser!

Hoss's truck also looked awesome, and drew a lot of attention. Too bad about the lights, man... I feel your pain...

My truck ran a best of 12. 85, 105. I had just over 1000 miles on my new twins. I went a few rounds in the Diesel class and the 4x4 class (I won one after blowing a boot, with a 23sec ET @ 36mph, snicker). Would liked to have gone farther, but at least I got to drive home with no breakages! Can't wait to run it down here, as it seems my buddies were about 1/2 second off their times.

The PNW did pretty well overall as far as times. I don't think there were more than a couple other diesel trucks running 12's or better. Plenty on the bottle, though... ;)

Piers Diesel Research should be proud: Fletcher, Maddog, and myself were largely equipped by them. Piers, thanks for getting my twin stuff to me so I could attend this event! :)

BIG THANKS also to Jason Burton of Northwest Custom, who took me through the twin installation last Tuesday. He really busted his hump to get me going, and it paid off! Broke 'em in on the way to Denver... :D

Thank you Scott for saving our day, let us know if there’s anything we can help you with. We drove straight through arriving in the Seattle area about 6:00 am ??? Tues. morning. As we headed out, Byron, Hoss and myself talked Rhonda into tying a tumble weed to her back and sprinting over the prairie secreting low toned sounds. This drew in a large Antilope. Byron hopped in his truck and ran it down around 1000 yrds out. Hoss cleaned it and Willy BBQ that puppy up. We had one hell of a lunch. Once again, Thank for helping us out and keep in touch.

That was David Lott, Hoss!

Rhonda, I have a box I call my spares kit, it has allot of stuff in it! When I need to buy something I'll buy several if I can afford it and put the left overs in the kit... ... boots, I have 2 stockers and 2 PDR's, hoses, clamps, gaskets... . but no head gasket, lines, fittings, washers... . pump type, you name it and I don't leave home without it... food for thought!

Glad you guys had a good time, wish I could have been there but we'll catch up later..... good to hear you'll are home safe!
