500,000!!! The trucks looks good for a half a mill on the clock! Love the bumper. In Buffalo, NY, we used to call that a "No-Fault" bumper. Sort of like, "It wasn't my fault Officer... ... ... ... ... " ;)

You been out here lately? Going to hit 110* this weekend!

No, I've actually stopped quoting anything into the desert SW, it's just too hard to get a load back out. I'll give you a shout for sure the next time I do come through though ... ... ... ... I bought breakfast last time, so the next meal is on you :-laf

I guess I will be deader than anyone by the time I get there. I haven't even broken 40K yet!! I will say though that 2/3 of that 40K have been with an 18K lb. fiver in its back all over western USA. Does that count for anything????

Congrats, you are half way to the Million mark!!!

Don't feel bad i'm not even to 25k yet!:-laf

Good lookin truck and congrats on the mileage! At my rate it'll take 100 years to hit 500k on the pickup.

The motor gets Rotalla T at 15-20,000 miles.

So you change Dino Rotella every 15-20K, not synthetic? Is this with a bypass filter setup?

Hmmm... . Maybe my 5K oil changes are a bit too frequent. I do 50/50 city/highway driving so maybe I should extend to 7. 5K changes???

Anyways, congrats on 500K---keep us updated with any tips you think of that have helped you reach a half million miles!

15-20,000 all towing miles on dino, no bypass ... ... ... ..... I gave up along time ago telling you guys how much money you waste on oil :-laf

Buffalo huh? Is that where you are located?

No. Born and raised in Orchard Park about 12 miles south of the City of Buffalo. Living in Bismarck, ND now. Just can't excape the snow! After 20 years of USAF service, this is where the boots landed.

Your advise prompted me to incrementally increase oil change intervals from 6k to 12k. Sent used oil samples to Blackstone to confirm. Used Rotella dino and could probably have gone longer. Thanks for saving me about 30 oil changes.

Apparently the Rotella-T 15W40 CJ4+ oil (for 2007. 5 & newer trucks) that has been out for a few years has not had any detrimental effect on your CTD.

Congrats, JHardwick... . Glad to see another high-mileage CTD out and about.

Pretty dad blamed impressive, way to go, and thanks for the time answering all the questions. One more- what oil filter do you run ? Do you run the same filter on those longer intervals ?

True, true... but are you running at stock or close to stock power?

I know that running around between 500 - 650 hp all the time really contributes to heavy soot loading of the oil, even with synthetics and bypass filtration. In fact, oil sampling at 10,000 miles indicated I had went too long between changes!

I've ran an EZ, Quad Race and and for a short time an SPDiesel box. For the last 200,000 or so, I have not ran anything except the F1 injectors.

I ran an aFe drop in until about 50,000 miles ago when I finally tossed it. I run NAPA fuel/oil filters. I try to keep the fuel filter changed in between oil changes, but never change the oil filter early. Well, except the time I ran 26,000 miles to prove a point, I changed the oil filter twice that time :-laf

I'm happy to read that good old Rotela does just fine . The Amsoil guys almost had me convinced. It will probably take me till the day I die to hit 500,000 miles . Now I know it can be done without all that extra stuff. Sure makes my wallet feel better . Well might even be able to afford a couple extra trips since I won't be buying any bypass filter of fancy oils .
