Can you remember life without the 'net?

Will a Dodge Cap fit a Chevy or Ford?

Nope, there is not a miracle pill you take or an expensive ab machine to buy. Rather it is hard work and sweat equity, but following principles that are sound.

Since July 26, 2003, I have been following "Body For LIfe", by Bill Phillips. All I can say is if you follow the guide lines and put an honest effort intot he program, you can obtain your fitness goals. There is no starving. In fact, I eat more now than I ever have, but it is quality food. There aren't any special foods or pills, just clean, quality gorceries. Work out six days a week, eat six times a day, and have one free day that I eat what ever I want.

When I started the program and looked at the pictures of the before and after, I did not think it was possible. Seven and a half months later, I can honestly say it is possible. I have not felt this good in over ten years. So far I have lost 135 pounds, and i have the knowledge now on how to keep it off! Quite honestly, it was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be to loose the weight. I have about 40# more to go and I think I will be where I want to be, but I will reevalutate when I get to that point.

So far I have lost 135 pounds
:--) :--)

Holy cow man, congratulations. Keep up the good work.

If you don't mind me asking... . what did you weigh when you started the diet??

Jeff. . CONGRATULATIONS how old and how tall are you ???

I need to drop about 70/100 myself

I'm now 57 yr. old. . 6'7" and about 360 lbs. .

I'm 33 years old, and 6ft tall. A little more about the program. There are no special clubs to join, or membership dues. Basically, I bought the Body for Life book, and the BFL Success Journal (logbook), and the rest was up to me. I work out every morning at 4am, and I work out in my house. I am not a gym-type person.

My wife and I were on that program as well, and yes it works! The nice thing about it is that it's a no BS program. You lose weight by eating right and excercising. No magic potions, no pills, you buy a book and live it.

My only complaint was that diet wise it was pretty strict - not bad but I like my beer. I think that this diet program is excellent for getting yourself into shape, but I'm sure that if you kept up with the excercise once you got to your goal you can back off on the diet a little.

I fell off the wagon a while ago since my wife got pregnant, and haven't had the ambition to get back on, but I think I will shortly.

Another program that she's had good luck with is the new Weight Watchers. She's combined the weight watchers diet with the body for life workout program and actually is seeing more agressive weight loss than what she saw on body for life. For some reason I lost alot of weight on BFL, but her loss was quite a bit slower.

I know I'm rambling but for those that are trying to do something about this - bottom line is that you have to eat right AND excercise - both programs seem to work well based upon my experience.

Guys you really have to see Jeff to get the full impact of what he has accomplished. He looks like a different person. No joke, you'll say to yourself, "This guy looks familiar, I feel like I know him from somewhere... " He is still wearing the same belt he always wore, just keeps punching new holes as he needs to, except now the extra wraps more that halfway around his waist!

With the way he has gone at this, and stuck to it, I really have to say I am proud to know Jeff. Way to go guy!

Jeff: I'm speechless. I'm really glad that you took the initiative to drop the pounds. We were getting worried about you for a while.

Can I drink beer on that diet?

I'm doing some f'd up version of Atkins/South Beach now with my old lady. I'm on my second week and have already lost my mind because I can't eat 90% of what's for sale out there.

I've lost 8 pounds or so in two weeks with no exercise... it works... but man... it's tough.

MTY - 5'11", 233# and hopefully still dropping... .

Congrats

Let me say something out of all the guys I see Jeff the most and let me say he looks great. I really at first had a few doubts when he started but when we went to a show in oct and he got up at 4 am to walk I knew he was serious. I see him usually once a week and you can notice it on him each week. I wish you the best of luck buddy and we are here behind ya keep going.

GREAT JOB Jeff...

Like Scott said, I noticed your dedication to the program at the October Dyno Show too and think what you are doing is great.

At this rate, no one will recognize you at Muncie this year... :-laf

Matt, you can drinnk beer on any diet. Just do it in moderation. A beer every now and then will not hurt. No binge drinking. You have to think about the diet that Jeff went on as a lifestyle change more than a diet. Don't think about the things you can't eat. You can eat those things as a treat every now and then. Pick one day to be your cheat day. That's the day you can have a big steak or juicy burger, or dessert. Don't deviate from that day. The rest of the week, stick to the diet (chicken, turkey, fish, lots of fuit and veggies). Eat less food more often... . make sense? Smaller meals 5 to 6 times a day. It keeps insulin levels stable and keeps the metabolism running. And get some exercise. 30 minutes 3 times a week to start and work up from there. Walk around the block, get a treadmill for home and put in front of the TV, or get a gym membership. That's all it takes.

My opinion here: Get off the Atkins/South Beach thing. Your body needs carbs to operate. Watch the carb source. Find a glycemic index on the net and stick to food low on that list. Here's my thought on the low-carb thing. A vegitarian gets 80-90% of their calories from carbs. Ever seen a fat vegitarian?

... . which is to say, at the rate you're going Holeshot, you'll weigh more than Jeff before long. . kind of like watching one elevator go down while the other goes up

Congratulations Jeff

Good work. It can be done. DaveN - you might find that the reason you and your wife had different results with the same diet was due to blood type. "Eat right for you blood type" is a diet very similar to the body for life except it is tailored to fit blood types. In the end, the answer it don't eat junk and get some exercise. Simple formula but takes dedication. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. Gut problems have dropped my weight below 160 and I am 6'2". Lost 30# in the last year because guts didn't work. On the way back. Bad health effects every part of one's life.

I was thinking of trying to get a tapeworm or two... those buggers can knock off some calories so I don't have to... (kidding!)

The exercise thing... it's getting warmer outside, I don't have any excuse for not getting out there and walk around the block a few times...

Matt

Congratulations!

Jeff - That's awesome. I'm as proud as heck of ya man.

Let me ask you one question though. How long has it taken to drop 135 lbs. ?
