The wife and I were on Body for life for a while it worked good. I would stay away from any diet that is a fad diet. Bottom line - if you want to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume. It's a mass balance. You can achieve that by starving (doesn't work long term), consuming less calories by eating better with smaller portions (this is what's required) and excercising (this is required). Also - a tip - your brain has a hard time determining the difference between hunger and thirst. Many times you think that you are hungry, when really you are thirsty. Try drinking a 12 oz glass of water when you feel hungry, then wait 20 minutes. If you're still hungry, then eat.
Also, when you eat, it takes your body 15~20 minutes to tell your brain that you are full. So eat a normal sized portion, then wait 15 minutes. You'll feel much fuller than if you keep eating until you feel full. When you do that you're actually overextending your stomach.
So in a nutshell - drink more water. Eat better foods, and smaller portions (if you like fresh vegetables these are good for you, low calories, and fill you up). You MUST excercise, and I recommend cardio with strength training. The cardio burns the fat, building muscle raises your metabolism (which burns more calories/fat).
