Weight of 5 gal's of diesel ?

Im upgrading a quad trailer and want to add some 5 gal jerry gas cans. What is the weight of a full can of diesel and gas so I can make a strong enough rack. Thanks.

Water weighs 62. 4#/cu. ft. and there are about 7-1/2 gallons of water in a cubic foot. That should be close enough.

Diesel fuel weighs 6. 6 lbs per gallon. That = 33 lbs/5 gal.

I think diesel weighs about 8 lb---gal

We have the diesel fuel we get at the power plant analyzed. The weight of the fuel always averages around 7. 1 pounds per gallon.

With all these different weights is everyone using the same gallon? The U. S. gallon is 4/5 the size of the imperial gallon.



TBarret - go with the U. S. gallon, no matter what the weight, it will be lighter than the imperial. lol
