Were is Diesel Industry going

I'm sitting here thinking about were this Diesel Industry going, is it going to do good or is it going to He__ in a hand basket. We have all heard of the copying of someone else's product, we've all done it, heck my first set of Twins I copied off pics that are on the Internet. My second set of Twins were a direct copy of the PDR Twins (except I had permission) So here is were it gets a little odd for me, I sit here and read through most of the forms on here and other boards and reply to several posts and answer allot of PM's and E-mails that ask, what do I do with this problem or what do you think about this or how do I set this up correctly, most of the time I'll call that person on my own dime if it can't be done via E-mail just to help them out... . this is the Christian in me coming out... . helping others. All the while I'm doing this I'm trying to help all the folks that help me as they probably make very little money verses time they spend with me answering my own questions.



So here is the dilemma, a person contacts me over a several week time frame about building something for there own enjoyment, I supply them with an (old) parts list, I talk them through it, explain ever situation that I have encountered and walk them through the process much like I would a Trainee of mine at work, the person completes the task is happy with the results ect. then later Markets that product for sale against other vendors. Now I'm all about a person venturing off on there own but were does that put a person like me... ... on the fence... ... . Clearly knowing that I can't do without the info support at this high of a power level, nor wanting to tick off his own vendors! So I ask you were does it end, do we support our vendors or do we let greed take over our very soul.

This is a grave concern of me also and was a big concern of the late great Nowel(HVAC). If it hadn't been for some of the great vendors like TST, Piers, DD, the Edge, & Nowel we would still be thinking 400 HP was the max.



I just can't believe all those wanting to get a picture of a TST plate so that they can copy them:mad: If this kind of thing keep up why would anyone want to share knowlegde with others so tht we can keep getting our fixes with more and more HP.
 
That just goes to show you how low some people can stoop. Then when the time comes that they really need someone's help or input, they wonder why nobody wants to help them. I am a through believer in the old saying"What goes around comes around. " Their time will come

This may sound corny but you have been an inspiration to me. and i say that b/c i read alot of you old posts from "370's are in" and up until now. i have been encourage to try to build my truck myself even when my wife say no more i keep on. now for reality for me i cannot afford to buy a set of twins for 4000. but will that stop me hell no i can get help off this board and from that i get the courage to venture on my own an try to build a set of twins. now as far as me buying from a vendor. well when i do my twins it going to be a stock hx35 with a 14 or16 and a piers modified ht3b. so the vendor will see my$$. I want to support piers but when it comes to buying s/m that costs 4K i cant. now for someone making money off what they find on this board it happens everyday. i would say alot of vendors out there started form things they learned from this board. the technology of twins is a growing pheno. and will be improved from here i am sure of it. so dont feel used or abused. i am going to build a set of twins and anything i learn i will share. i know most people out there dont have the $ to blow on a stupid truck. but when you can do it yourself and learn and make it work with the input form others you have yourself some real diesel promoters. jim would you like to see everyone not learn anything about diesel just pull up at piers shop give him a blank check and say make 700hp. no thats not how it works most on this board are like me and you they want to learn and love the process of learning. i understand what you are saying that guy should at least name his twins "fulmertwins". is this guy a member on this board?



ps most guys who turn wrenchs are doing something someone esle told them to do. if i wanted to build a 700hp diesel myself i would hope that others would help me out. would i use this knowledge to make money i might. anything piers know he learned from somone else. for the guy not to tell you his intentions and get all this info from you is chicken ****.

That said, many of the advances, improvements and upgrades done on our trucks originated in the mind of a single lone individual, then brought to life in his garage or backyard. I've copied some of the stuff others have done, originated a few of my own, and consider any mods I have done or originated to be in the public domain - hell, I frequently provide pictoral threads with "how-to" info... That's what drew me to this board, and keeps me here - to learn what will help ME, and for me to help OTHERS when able... ;) :D
 
I hear what your saying about not being able to buy 700 HP, heck I can't either, that's why I build everything and do my own labor. In your case if you used info from say (me) to build your setup then I would have no issue at all, now to take that info and turn it around and build for the open market and compete against those that have (overhead) that is when I have an issue. I can do it too, I doubt there are many folks out there that could compete against me in pricing if I bought into dealership position with main vendors, it's real simple, I don't pay the escrow payment on this place, the Navy does, but I won't do that nor will I build Twins for the open market ect. Who does all this hurt, you'll cause now I'm going to be tight lipped about most everything except basic stuff that promotes my people..... read the signature for a list!
