Sorry, but your math is off by 50%. 64 oz. is 2 qts. 128 oz. is 1 gal.

By your figures using 12 oz. to 34 gallons the answer would be 362:1

Steved is right about being a little smokey at 1 oz. /gal. 1 oz/gal is pretty rich. That is 7812 ppm or 128:1 ratio. If you use 2/3 oz. /gal that is about 192:1 and 1/3 oz. is about 384:1 .

2/3 oz. gal is more than enough and easy to figure in your head.

If your fill up is say 24 gals. add 16 oz. of oil. for 2/3 oz. /gal. (192:1)

If your fill up is say 24 gals. add 8 oz. of oil for 1/3 oz. /gal. (384:1)

Finlay jumped on board with this 2 cycle oil deal after 100k miles and I've gotta say wow! I can't believe how much quieter and smoother my engine is at all RPMs. I added 22 oz of the Walmart Super Tech white bottle (used to be blue, cuz they still had a few of those left) to a full 35 gal tank and after about 20 miles the transformation took place..... This stuff works! Can't believe I didn't try this sooner!#@$%!

I use the Wally blue jug, TCW3.

Think of an oz/gal like this;

1 oz. /gal = 7812 ppm

2/3oz. /gal = 5000 ppm

Which is kinda bringing the lube of the fuel back to the pre 1995 days of having 5000 ppm of sulfur common in #2 fuel.

Gene, what is the ppm for ULSD, is it 50 ppm now ?

I guess by your post this 2-stroke oil has sulfur in it ?

So it looks like 2/3 oz per gallon (5000 ppm) is ideal ?

What is the ppm level at 362:1 ratio ?

I want to get a few more fillups at the 12 oz per gallon, 362:1 ratio, see what the results are, then go to the 2/3, 21 oz, 207:1 ratio.

Turbo Bob,

Sorry for the confusion.

2 cycle oil doesn't has sulfur in it. When I reread my post I can see where it could be inferred that that was what I meant.

Back in the days of 5000 ppm sulfur in the diesel fuel the sulfur was considered a lubricant for the fuel system. When I made the comment about the 5000 ppm thing I was referring to the additional lube properties that 2 cycle oil puts back into the diesel we have today, not necessarily sulfur though.

There are a lot of different opinions about this subject. I can only tell people that I have used this for a long time now with no ill effects.

I use a 2/3 oz. /gal. mix. It doesn't cause excessive smoke like 1 oz. /gal or higher does and the engines run noticeably smoother and quieter.

362:1 = 2762 ppm

Just came across this thread after hearing from my brother-in-law about his experiences using 2-stroke oil in his Powerstroke. I wanted to make sure it was safe in the cummins before attempting so after reading through I went ahead and added one qt on my last fill-up. Had I not experienced it first hand I would have not believed it. All the claims appear true. My engine runs much quieter, smoother and most importantly, my mileage has materially increased. Although I haven't used a full tank yet, I went 340 hard-driven miles before getting to the half way mark on my guage whereas before I would only get to 290 and 300 if I babied it.
