so I'm going to pull the plug. so I don't have to run around what fluid do I need to run? any traction modifier? want to have it all on hand when I do the install! pulling the axle tonight to count the splines.

No modifier, no special oil needed. Just take what you are using now.
For the Driveshafts you can use RTV sealant, same for the Diff Cover.

You'll be impressed how your Truck performs with the lock-right.

Been buisy on the farm and didn't have a chance to pull the axle. We had a ice storm last night and one of my guys took my truck. When he was leaving I noticed that when the truck was slipping on the ice both tires were trying to spin. One would slip and the other one spun a little then stopped then started again. Truck was sitting still. Does this mean I do have limited skip and its worn or because it was glare ice both tires would spin anyways? I have never seen both tires spin. I do know when I get in some mud or snow only one tire will spin. Thoughts??

On plain Ice this is possible, both tires have equal traction so they can spin both.
When you pull the axles and open the diff cover you'll see which diff you have inside, they are easy to determine.

With this conditions, you have some load on your pickup? Without load and a plow in front there is close to no weight on the rear axle.
