Simple question, what brand CD player is in your truck?

Just wondering what everyone is running cause I have a Pioneer now and I really don't like it! So I'm selling it to a buddy and getting something different.

I've always had Sony's, but the new ones are all Red and that doesn't go good with Dodge interiors. So I'm having to scout out new brands.

So whatcha got?

Mark,

I just recently bought an Ecplise but don't have it in the truck yet. For the price range I wanted and for what my needs are, the guy at the electronics store recommended it to me. I was going to spend the extra money on an Alpine but he thought this Ecplise would suit me fine. Guess he realized that I am not a kid with a rice rocket that blasts rap music while going down the street :-laf . The guy at the store also told me that Ecplise is the OEM manufacturer for Lexus. I'll keep you posted after I get it installed.

I have a Sony CDMx-630 it has a black face with no buttons or knobs on the outside, and it comes with a remote and you push the open button and the face folds down automatically and the buttons ae on the backside of the face if you want to run it manually, but who wants to do that. I've had it in my truck for 2 years and hasn't missed a beat. Oo.

Ohhhhh Ahhhhhhhh... ...

Now just because it wouldn't match your interior don't say it wouldn't look good with a sweet looking red ride,LOL. It sounds like it may be just what I need for mine Mark.

I've been following these stereo threads alot lately as mine is in the land of only works when it wants to lately. My son did a Sony XPlod in his Intrepid and without a amp it had a very nice sound. Now since he finished it before he left for college I could hear him coming from way over the hill, sheesh. Its amazing to me what these newer style radios will put out from the factory, guess that means I am too old,LOL... ... Andy

Had it already. I liked it but kinda got wore out on the flip-around face... ... however if I don't find anything that I really like I may have to go back to one and just make sure I don't loose the remote! #@$%! That makes it kinda hard to operate with the face shut.

I'm just looking for something simple to use, and that doesn't cost TOO MUCH. However I doubt those M-630's have come down much either!

Nakamichi supplies the tunes for Lexus. I have an Eclipse in my jeep, backed up with Nakamichi speakers. I notice the sound quality every time I drive it. The Eclipse is top shelf all the way!!!

I would like to R&R the unit in my '02, but everything looks like it belongs in a arcade.

I would like to find a quality 1. 5 DIN head unit with a matched changer. Until then I'm stuck with the OEM Infinity, Speakers upgraded, soon to add an amp for the rear beacuse DCM forgot.

What was the problem with the pioneer? I had heard they made a pretty good unit: direct plug in replacement, 1. 5 DIN.

Radio

Buy the Alpine that has the built in XM tuner and CD/ MP3 player. You can also add the 6 disc changer that also plays MP3s. The only aftermarket radio with this capability. Cost around $550. 00 installed. Nice setup :) :)

I got this one from savinglots.com and they had the cheapest prices. Oo.

WOW! The prices at that website www.savinglots.com are GREAT! Oo.

I'm gonna shop around there because there are a couple of different brands around the same price range I'm looking at.

Anybody have any experience with Kenwood CD players?

Another vote for Alpine. I've got a 9813 (MP3 and XM) in mine.

Don't sell the MP3 capability short. 15-20 CDs per disc, the originals stay home, and I'm not continuously swapping CDs. Chicago to Moab, 1 disk swap, and no repeats!

BTW, I pulled the Alpine out of my modified Jeep Cherokee, which is now a pure trail rig. No skips.

How do you do MP3's? I have aboslutely NO knowledge on them. I just have a regular CD burner on my computer.

You probably have the capability to convert music to MP-3. Definitely the way to go, I think the compression ratio is 10-1. I use Roxio.

Now you guys got me going!!! But I think I need the MP3 and the satellite!

I almost wish my factory unit would take a dump. NOT!

What issues did you have with the Pioneer?

Was it the 1. 5 DIN?

Did you interface with the (YUK) Infinity?

I just want to find a deck that actually fits the slot in my dash without using some cheapy ABS plastic trim plate to fill the gap up.

My stock infinity works okay, but the back speakers are starting out now and then. Between that and my desire to have a MP3 player deck, I may opt for a new one this summer. Anyone know of a "dodge" sized deck? I remember Pioneer had one a few years back, I'd prefer a Sony though. I don't bother with amps, just one more thing to get stolen. Nice clean sound is all I want, I don't need to drown out the vibration of a jackhammer thump like one.

I feel so out of date, my only real concerns for a car stereo is how to keep the nearby cars radio from coming in mine at stop lights. Other than positioning my tail pipe next to their open window, I haven't found much to drown out/choke out rap and hip hop thump. I have grown to dislike loud music as I can't hear my Work phone anymore, what's a disgruntled contractor to do?

What don't you like about the Pioneer?

Just curious because I just bought the Pioneer DEH-P560MP. .

To many equalizers and settings and BS..... give me something simpler to set the sound on!

Converting audio CDs to . mp3 files: download CDex from http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/

It's a pretty easy application to use.

For those worried about cheesy little ABS trimplates to fit a single DIN head unit in the stock location, my Alpine 9813 looks just fine, darned near stock. It's been nice and steady since June.

Hope you didn't take that as an insult, wasn't meant to be. I may have just been looking at cheap plug kits in the past. The blistered texture on most of the adpater surfaces is what I don't care for. If I could find one that matches the texture of my dash trim panel, that would be more to my tastes. My gauge pillar is a closer match to the A pillar and dash trim's finish, I wish I could an an adapter with the same texture finish as it is.

Thanks for the MP3 link, I'll have to check it out, I am using a friends software on his desktop currently, but want a program for my own eventually, his is a real expensive program, but does alot more than just MP3 conversions.
