What brand of oil filter ?????

I was woundering cause I can get mighty oil filters for less than $4 per filter

No doubt you have the old saying "you get what you pay for" Generally speaking that's true. Another one I like, "it is better to pay a little more and get a lot more than to pay a little less and get a lot less". I have been using Amsoil oil filters and Polson for the oil by-pass. I don't know if Wix makes our size but for cars they are excelent. Most Filter Manufacturers are in business to make money and let advertising make their product sound best. Fram is all you can get at Wal-Mart so there is maybe a special deal there. I would use Fram in a car but never in a diesel. My Dad always said "advice is free, therefore worth nothing"

Don't use Fram on anything, even if they pay you to take it.

I get Fleetgaurd LF3349's for $5.

The Dealer filter is just a re-branded Fleetguard.

For years Fleetguard held the edge on dirt holding capacity, filtration fine-ness capability and the ability to survive the Cummins engine . . . . very recently Baldwin has caught up as has Donaldson. Remember that there are only three or four filter manufacturers in the US. . . . . also the 6 cylinder Cummins puts out a vibration harmonic that will cause an improperly designed or manufacturer filter to self disintegrate. This was a real big problem on our 1st gens when they first came out in the late 80's / early 1990's.



Filtration techology has changed a lot in the past 10 years - mostly for the better! I have run Fleetguard and an occasional Baldwin ever since I have owned the truck - no problems noted - always good oil analysis results.
