A lady (sounded older) called my business today to tell me she would NEVER come back because not only did she spot an NRA sticker on my rear truck window, but also the front door of my business. (3"mylar stickers) I asked her politley why she would be offended by my membership in the NRA. No answer. Asked her if the D. A. R. E. sticker on my rear bumper offended her? Had to explain that it was a drug education program used in our schools. She wasn't sure. I asked her what her real motive was for calling. No answer. I asked her if my NRA membership was cancelled or allowed to lapse - would that make her feel better about doing business with us? She replied "maybe". After several minutes she finally said that she had a problem buying ANYTHING from ANYBODY that owned a gun. Finally asked her that if 5 thugs were beating her with ball bats to rob and kill her- I saw it and had a gun - would she want me to shoot them? Long pause and then she asked if I would be trying to kill them???? :--)

Geez---- You just can't fix stupid. There is more to this story but it is getting a little long.

Ask her if she has ever had her hands tied behind her back and placed face down on a concrete floor with a gun stuck in the back of her head as the robber pulled the trigger.

I have been in that position - once!

I've made a habit to carry ever since.

I could still come out on the short end, but I refuse to be someone's victim!

You can't teach those weenies anything. As bad as you and I would hate it, those are the kind of people that need to experience some of the bad side of life in order to appreciate the real value of living in a free country.

One of my sayings - "there are too many people in America that just haven't had a good asc whippin!"

At least a couple of the teachers at the Community College I attend have Life NRA stickers on thier rigs.

Must not endear them to the liberal wackos that teach on the other side of campus :)

I have a friend who was raped by 2 guys with knives and she still wont even think of owning a gun, scared of them. She doesnt think I should give up mine or anyone else, she just doesnt like them. Makes you wonder why people get that way.

Thanks guys

You just reminded me, I need some 45cal. Hydra-shocks:D, getting low. ;)

If you think thats bad my mom hates my guns and likes Clinton. :--)

NRA sticker in my window too.

Sad but true. I have to keep my truck free of personal opinion on any subject as I use it for work. No matter what the subject is or my opinion of it, it will offend someone. Since I am on thier property to provide a service for a fee, and not there on a mission to convince the customer of my point of view on a subject unrelated to the business, I find it necessary to keep my opinions to myself about anything not business related. It's just good business. The only time I have to explain my opinion out of the business context is when someone complains that my truck is too loud and smelly. When I explain that it gets almost 20mpg in town and will outlast a gas engine and the mileage I put on the truck (100k in three yrs), they understand why I drive such a noisy smelly truck. But they don't need to know what's under the seat, in my wallet, or in my beliefs or thoughts of them. All they need to know is that I'm there to provide a service for the money they're paying. It's just good business. And more business means more profits.

When I was purchasing American Handgunner last month at Barnes and Noble, the checkout guy said to me "I dont like guns".

I said to him "If you prefer to not own one it's STILL a free country and that's your choice. Furthermore it would probibally be best for everyone near you if you never touched one".

I then asked him "How come you dont mind selling magazines that have guns in them?" He said, "Theyre good sellers".

Guess it's time to get it in the mail.

Ya just cant get through to some of these people.

"CRIMINALS PREFER UNARMED VICTIMS"

Andy-You think our "pollititions" have any idea about the truth of this? I doubt it. Maybe someone should sell them a clue!

Crazy Horse,

Stop and think about what you just said. Most of the them are the "CRIMINALS", Why do you think they try so hard to take away our right to own a gun?

Eric,

Your experience at Barnes & Noble is exactly what I'm refering too. At first reading, it would appear that you over-reacted to four words that cashier uttered about his feelings of guns. He doesn't have to like guns. That's his right. But he should have kept his feelings to himself. He probably had no idea how many times you have had to defend you position with guns. I would have simply said, "I DO like guns" and left it at that but I don't get as worked up about guns as I do when people try to convince me that my Harley will kill me as if no-one has ever died in a Camry. He has lost a customer due to his inability to keep his feelings to himself. This is why I keep my truck and tool boxes free of stickers and any display of union, guns, religion, or politics. I'd rather have the business $$$ than try to convince someone of my point of view when they are just as passionate of their point of view. The cashier obviously values his opinion more than his job.

Here goes! Guns to me is like a pocket knife. I am lost without them. The first real gun I co=owned was a . 22 Mossberg. I was 9years old and my brother was 10 and we wanted a rifle real bad to hunt rabbits. (don't tell anyone we also killed them). No money, nor rifle. We were hired on to sew sacks of wheat on a combine. Took both of us to wrestle the sacks to slide them down the chute. WE GOT OUR RIFLE! Anytime we had 50 cents in our pocket we bought a box of shells.

Only comeback I ever use when I run into one of these self-proclaimed anti gun people is this,,Like your right to try to force your views on me about how bad guns are,its my right to say you will get my guns away from me when you pry my cold dead fingers away from the trick grips of my Anaconda,,These types and the animal lovers are two that really infuriate me to no end,,All they see is the medias view of what somebody has done with a gun and group all us owners with them because we are avid shooters or collectors,,Lets not get me started on the animal lovers(oh don't shoot Bambi, give me a break they'll eat a piece of beef that was shot in the head or hit with a bat),,Myself like others am a avid sport shooter(pistol, benchrest and silouhette)and hunter(Yes,we do eat the meat here) and try to educate any young shooter I come in contact with,,Guess they think because we are owners we are criminals too,go figure,,Just once I like to see some of these, like to force their own views and stick their nose in my business, out in left field anti-gun people keep their pie-hole shut,,Old saying for those type fits here... ... WHEN THEY OUTLAW GUNS,ONLY THE OUTLAW'S WILL HAVE THEM

About the NRA stickers, I thought long and hard about advertising with them.

I decided I KNEW there was almost 4 million NRA loyal members, and 80 million Gun Owners.

How many antis are there?

No wheres near that many.

And I don't want their buisness if they want my Freedom.

Guns

khirzel, I work in a prison and seen just about everything there is to see, but what got me two weeks ago was the mother of this kid from edinboro who shot a teacher at an after school funtion. The day I heard this on the news and not knowing who the family was, I told my co workers that it was some kid who was left alone after school and had a computer in his room and that both parent worked abd spent little time with the kid. Days later thats what came out in the paper. Well this mother is now part of the prison society, and there concern is how well the prisoners are treated. The guy her son shot was an upstanding citizen of the community and well like among his piers. My point is spend time with your children and teacher them right from wrong cause once they get to my establishment its tough and down hill.

Cops Call This CPS !!

Most Police Officers would rather work in an area where the good guys were armed. It makes it a lot easier. The crooks will always be armed. Anyone who is anti gun we call CPS. it is Cranial Proctology Syndrome, aka Head Up A**. There is no hope for these folk's.

I dunno Steve. I dont think I over reacted. The whole exchange took about 10 seconds, and neither of us was yelling. :D You'd be suprised, it was quite civilised. :D

I try not to make my truck a rolling bumper sticker billboard. The only one I have on it right now is "Legalise Freedom". I think that should say it all. :D

Dont ya just hate people that want to protect you from yourself. :D

I dont believe in helmet laws either, but were getting off topic now.

I thought this interview would be appropriate for this string:

This is an exact replication of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Army General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation:

INTERVIEWER: "So, General Reinwald, what things are yhou going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?"

GENERAL REINWALD: "We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting. "

INTERVIEWER: "Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?"

GENERAL REINWALD: "I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range. "

INTERVIEWER: "Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?"

GENERAL REINWALD: "I don't see how, ... we will be teaching them proper rifle range discipline before they even touch a firearm. "

INTERVIEWER: "But you're equipping them to become violent killers. "

GENERAL REINWALD: "Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?"

The radio went silent and the interview ended. :--)
