Another trans bites the dust

I've added alot of things to my truck lately, and the horsepower has gone up quite a bit. But the one thing that hasn't really changed is where it comes on and where it drops off. It starts making power at around 1500 rpm, torque peaks at around 1800 rpm, hp peaks at around 1950 rpm. By the time it gets to 2300 rpm, hp is down 15% from peak. Is it possible to keep the hp and torque levels high for a longer period. I notice that the 24valve trucks seem to have hp peaks in the 2600-2700 rpm range. I have a 24 valve motor but it has a p-pump. Does the p7100 cause the narrow power band? Motor makes good power, it just seems that 500 rpm is a rather narrow power band .

I really can't offer anything specific since I have no experience with a P-pumped 24V, but in the case of my engine (the 2002 HO or ETH), the restriction to higher RPM fuel flow was the injectors. Stock or with the EZ and stock injectors, the power would fall off pretty rapidly after about 2600 RPM. When I added the DD2's, it pulled all the way to 3200 RPM. This is borne out by my dyno curves that show over 300 RWHP from 2200 to almost 3200 RPM (typical for a trailer-towing "high torque rise" setup).

The governor on the p7100 is defueling. Add a GSK either 3K or 4K and you will be all smiles. Best bomb for the buck.

As I understand it Ron the governor spring kit basically takes your engine's power curve and stretches it out to a wider and higher RPM range.

What all has been done to the pump?

I saw and heard my first p-pump 24 valve recently. Sounds just like a 12-valve! :)

Its a little noisier than the old motor. But it's also a little more powerful. PDR did the pump. And it has a GSK in it. I was told it didn't have enough air, but with twins it reacts the same. Cam helped the bottom, but peak hp and torque are pretty much in same place. Am going to try a 26 housing on the BHT3b. I am going to get the timing checked as soon as the new head is on. Governor spring adjustment, loosen to gain rpm and tighten to restrict rpm?

Or is it the other way around?

On the P-pump you need to put in the stiffer govoner springs so it does'nt start de-

fueling until 3000 -3200 rpm ( stock I think is about 2600 rpm )
