Actaully Jengle, when I told Mark which pump I was switching to, he told me they are currently testing the aeromotive on theirs also. The holley only lasted a couple months. Which doesn't surprise me in the least. The holley's have never been a great pump for long term use.

Dang, just when you think they have things figured out, they don't. So now, we are back to experimenting to find a suitable pump. You wouldn't think a simple fuel pump with a reliable regulator would be so hard to build.

Holley Blue feeding the stock LP is good for 26 psi idle and min of 15 psi at WOT at my power level. Been on for 6 months and ~10k miles with no problems or pressure fluctuations. It's quiet, too :)

Banshee-Just curious if you ever sit for prolonged times in stop and go traffic with your holley pump. We have had issues with them getting hot and wanting to shut down after a while.

Keith- yeh I am well aware of the different pumps. 4 of them actually 5psi, 7 psi and 15 psi. The 100 gph pump is available with 7 and 15 psi.

lmills,

traffic isn't all that bad where I live, so I don't sit in heavy traffic very often. I have set for up to an hour at most when on the road, but I've never had one shut down. When driving up to TIM this year from NC the truck never shut off on the way up there. I have felt the pump after driving and it is warm, but not excessively hot. A blue pump only draws 3 amps continuous (according to Holley... i haven't measured it), so they shouldn't get too hot IMO.

John

Yeh, unfortunately we have had a blue pump previously, just not on a diesel. It was OK for daily use and even for long trips, but when stuck in traffic for any length of time it would get hot and start to surge. The pressure would start to fluctuate and you could here the pump shutting down at times for a couple seconds. Makes ya start to sweat bullets. ;)

Keith,

I have a Issopro gauge that has an isolator. Its mounted on top of the steering column and not on the pillar post. Is this the gauge you have seen problems with?

Well, I have come to the conclusion it isn't the TST running the pump dry. I tried running it today with the TST box off. I also installed the pressure gauge after the filter last night. I now have an accurate reading of what the CP3 is seeing. Well, with the TST off I am able to suck the pressure down to 0 psi with the diesel dynamics pusher pump kit. I am more than certain that it is a faulty pump. If the weather cooperates, I will be installing the aeromotive pump tomorrow.

I'm very interested in your experience with that Aeromotive pump... looks very high quality.

going, going, gone

Well, here are the pressures... . Going, going and gone

The highest pressure was just cruising at 65 mph. The rest were WOT runs

Well, Lloyd, I got to see my FP gauge bottom out at zero for the first time, last night. Have the TST in, finally. This truck rocks with that box. Guess I will be doing a pump next. I haven't run it with the box turned off to see if it will go to zero, though. I will try that and post the results. Before the box, I would only see it go to 5 at WOT, with a load, on a hill.

Well, the aeromotive pump is in. I have only been able to pull it down to 11-12 psi at WOT. The only down side is, it is loud. They do not come with any type of rubber insulator. I will be taking care of that with some pieces of rubber. Hopefully I can get it quieted down a bit. With the pusher pump making all that noise, I feel like I am driving the drag car. ;):D

Well, the pump is a little quieter now, but you can still hear it pretty good at stop lights. As for the pressure I have only seen a low of 9 psi at WOT with both boxes on.

yeh, but then again, I don't think my carter pump that came in the DD kit was working right since the day I put it on. It was quieter than the last carter pump that I used as a pusher pump.

lmills, you must have a bad Carter pump. I have run the DD pump on several 03 trucks with great success. I have had one die after a month of use, but that's it. Mine has been on for 40K miles, and has never skipped a beat.

Like Keith said in earlier posts, the Carter pump used as a pusher for the 24V's is different than the replacement used on 3G trucks.

How's the Aeromotive pump doing? Do you have any pics of your mounting? What regulator are you using?

So far so good on the pressures. It has developed a leak somewhere. It leaks when under pressure while running. So I am going to have to check into that. As for a regulator, you don't need one with this pump.

yeh I said that earlier in the post. I also mentioned that it had only been on the truck for 3-4 weeks. I thought maybe they would have stood behind it, but as soon as I showed the pictures of it sucking down to 0 psi, I receieved no more replies. So I guess they had no intentions on replacing the pump.

Yeh, like said above it is different than the one in the DD pusher pump kits. However there are numerous 24 valve trucks running this pump as a pusher. I ran one on mine after doing a search and hearing how many people use it.
