HELP! Weight and Specs help needed to make decision

If this means my next "Cummins" will be cheaper, I'm all for it !!! Even if it's wrapped in a different package.

In fact this would be PERFECT: Overland Society scroll down to the bottom of the page and watch the diesel conversion video! :)

Dodge just announced 800lb/ft upgrade, but even still I've read two articles/editirials where after playing with all three brands they would prefer the Dodge CUMMINS for personal use. Even at the 350/650 rating and the new trucks are WAY nicer to drive than a 3rd gen.

I found it interesting they advertise 800 ft-lb at 1600 RPM and you can order a 6 speed manual with 3. 42 rear differential. It seems like Dodge was pushing the automatic transmission's and punishing those that wanted a manual by downgrading the specs. It looks promising and I am trying to fight off a case of new truck fever.

I hear ya, but I do have to tell ya, I know lots and lots of folks who ate their clutches w/ just an Edge EZ and 275 injectors. I have the orig clutch on my '02 and the secret is reving it out, shift easy and don't shower down much... better to down shift and hit it. Third gear launches are ok, but you gotta step into it gradually (in 1/10 sec increments) to the floor.

FYI, I have a SBC I bought in '02 never opened expecting to kill my clutch. I have killed the rear pinion seal and yoke though,:{

Get yourself a Smarty 6. 7 and you will find supreme hapiiness. My 4500 ain't no sleeper. ;);)

BUT, this new combo is just PERFECT for a couple like us. I don't want to be thinkin` of shifting no gears when we're toolin` around the country pulling our 38' 5th wheel when it's my turn to drive. Over the years I've even convinced Ol Dutchie to go to the auto transmission mindset. Now if we can just find that new Dodge in the color we want----------

Be very careful THoltz, that new truck fever can jump up and getcha if you're not paying attention!!!! Diana.

It is NOT Burger King, You cannot have it your way!!

THoltz: I would guess that since Chrysler has gone to making the drive line mfg. s warranty their respective products, the clutch and/or trannie suppliers might have said NO to the 350/800 output.

What I cannot have my way is a 3500 SRW pick up with an Aisin trannie and the 350/800... ... ... ... ... ... why????

I want to know why I can't have a medium duty 7 speed manual with a . 80 and . 60 set of OD's with 4. 10's with the 350/800 motor...

Guess I'll have to stick to the 05 for a while, no warranty so it's about to be375/800 to the wheels.
