I guess it was not South Bend, but a transmission shop in OK, if I remember. Anyway, there was a thread with a guy that donated his truck to elt them tear it apart, but I never heard what the final outcome was.

Anyone know?

They found out that the G-56 was so weakly designed and constructed, that if the dual-mass flywheel was replaced with a conventional one, the whole transmission would explode, and probably wipe out the rest of the truck in the process...

(NO, that really isn't it - but it's sure to bring out some answers... ) ;) :D

Geez Gary, start a flame war why don't ya... .

As nonesuch said, Tim chose to no longer participate here. I do wonder if he and SBC and Blumenthal's continued with the tear down. The only one who can answer that I think is gonna be Peter from SBC. I'd volunteer my truck, but I'm clear out in california, and have no plans to bomb the truck. But from an academic standpoint I'd be curious to see what the come up with when they take one apart.

Thay IS NOT what nonesuch said. "Tim is no longer a member of this board... " is what was stated.

Just as Gary is curious, so am I.

Probably due to all the Plastic Parts used in the G56.

WOW- talk about taking things out of context! Are you a NEWS reporter on the side :-laf :D

ah do you mean am I a dumb blond whose only job is to read a telepromptor written by some liberal arts bozo that distorts the facts significantly in order to boost our ratings?? damn you are a smart man.

I really didn't/don't have anything against Tim - actually, we both suffer from the same 2 basic sicknesses - we both like our trucks, and we both tend to say what we think, sometimes without enough sugar coating for the more delicate readers...

So is SBC going to chime in here and tell us what happened? It was alluded in the earlier post that there would be a feature in TDR about their findings, but why not just spit it out here? I would like to know what kind of conclusions they drew.
